The most frequently asked question we receive from the community is “how do I hire one of your students?”

The students in our department are highly sought after. They are trained to estimate,  read drawings and analyze the relationship between natural and built environments.  Students in our programs are motivated individuals who not only work hard in the classroom, but are also required to work 800 hours by the time they graduate. Because of this requirement a “majority of our students have an internship by their sophomore or junior year,” says department instructor, Larry Blackmon. “They usually work for that employer after graduation.” Feedback Blackmon has received from the industry includes that our students “are the best prepared when they enter the workforce.”

To hire one of these skilled and motivated individuals, we recommend sharing your post to the . We refer our students to the job board frequently.

Before posting, consider if your company is willing to work with schedules, underclassmen, international students and what type of time commitment you need.

Follow these steps to post a job to the job board:

  1. Go to .
  2. Select “here” in the note to employers.
  3. Fill out the form under “Employer Job Post.”
  4. Hit Submit.

That’s it.

From there the college’s career service office will review the post and put it on the job board. Once the posting is up, our department shares them with our students in a weekly newsletter.

If you have questions about your job posting or upcoming career fairs, please contact Assistant Dean, Vernard Henley. Assistant Dean Henley leads the career service office for the college.
