Professor Kelly Terry is an associate professor of law, director of Externship Programs and Pro Bono Opportunities, and co-director of the Institute for Law Teaching and Learning.

Professor Terry is one of the law school鈥檚 鈥渟kills teachers,鈥 which means she helps upper class students learn the skills and values necessary to bridge the gap between study and practice. Professor Terry has taught the law school鈥檚 Public Service Externship course since its creation in 2006. In this course, students maximize their learning by working 鈥渋n the field鈥 and participating in a seminar course. Professor Terry has updated several aspects of this course, which has caused substantial improvements in student鈥檚 performance in the class. She has also taught 鈥淧rofessionalism and the Work of Lawyers鈥. This course is designed to develop student鈥檚 skills in a range of areas related to the day-to-day practice of law, including professionalism, professional reflection, interpersonal communication, finding and succeeding in legal jobs, client interviewing, cross-cultural proficiency, mentoring from the mentee鈥檚 perspective, and public service.

As co-director of the Institute for Law Teaching and Learning, Professor Terry has helped sponsor and present at conferences. The institute was established to recognize the obligations law schools have to their students and to society to provide a learning environment that helps students achieve the highest academic standards and prepares them to assume their responsibilities as effective and moral attorneys.

Professor Kelly Terry has a B.A. in English from Hendrix College and a J.D. from the University of Arkansas School of Law.
