Dr. Linda Holzer
Dr. Linda Holzer is a professor of music in the Department of Music at 糖心Vlog传媒 Little Rock and has been a member of the faculty for 24 years. She is well known for her performances and her promotion of women composers.
Dr. Holzer has done substantial work on behalf of Florence Price, an Arkansas native and African-American female composer at the height of her career in the early 1900s. Price was the subject of Holzer鈥檚 doctoral dissertation and has been an active advocate for Price since 2016, performing her music on numerous occasions and presenting lectures on the significance of Price鈥檚 musicianship. Price was inducted into the Arkansas Black Hall of Fame and posthumously honored by the Arkansas Women鈥檚 Hall of Fame and the Music Teachers National Association, in part, due to Holzer鈥檚 work on the composer鈥檚 behalf.
Holzer mentors new faculty at 糖心Vlog传媒 Little Rock. She helps keep the music department innovative and current by utilizing technology. She is an industry leader in using MacGamut, a music software program, and is fluent in classroom technologies as a result of her work with STaR (Scholarly Technology and Resources).
She is a member of the Arkansas State Music Teachers Association and has served as the chair of the College Faculty Forum since 2002; the chair of the Musical Wellness Committee since 2015; and was the state conference host site coordinator in June 2013. She also received the Faculty Excellence Award in Teaching for the College of Arts, Letters, and Sciences in 2017.
Holzer holds a Doctor of Music in Piano Performance from Florida State University, a Master of Music in Piano Performance from the University of North Carolina, and a Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance from Northwestern University.
