Internships/Service Learning Opportunities

• Latonya Suber, APRN; Laura Mayfield, APRN; and Tracy England, APRN acted as clinical聽preceptors for two Family Nurse Practitioner students (one from 糖心Vlog传媒MS and the other聽from South University in Savannah, Georgia). This experience provided the students with an聽opportunity to observe and actively participate in the delivery of health care and to incorporate advanced practice concepts.
• The 糖心Vlog传媒LR Nursing Department contacted Health Services about allowing one of their聽RN students to complete her internship hours in the clinic. Keirsten Lee聽worked along side Chanell Smith, RN and was given the聽opportunity to gain familiarity with clinical functions and to participate in daily activities of the聽clinic.
• Vanessa Lewis, Health Promotion, Programs and Education (HPPE) coordinator, worked聽with the 糖心Vlog传媒LR Department of Health, Human Performance & Sports Management to provide senior students with practical, hands-on experience in their field of study. Because of this partnership, 6聽interns were able to complete their聽required hours on campus.
• Students and organizations from across the 糖心Vlog传媒LR campus took advantage of 聽several service聽learning opportunities offered聽through the聽HPPE office. A total of聽167 students, including many from Greek Life, Trojan Talk, First Year Experience, and the Department of Health, Human Performance & Sports Management, obtained their聽required volunteer聽hours.
