Four second-year law students — Dawson Goodwin, Abby Penn, Ellis Rampy and Mackenzie Selby — participated in the at George Washington University Law School in Washington, D.C.

The students represented two of 28 teams that participated in the annual competition where they competed against teams from 27 other law schools, including teams from Baylor University, McGeorge School of Law, as well as teams from Illinois and Missouri. Dawson and Rampy represented the petitioners in a first round, on-brief competition, while Penn and Selby represented the respondent. Both teams ultimately advanced to the quarter-finals of the competition.

Of the 56 students who participated in the competition, Ellis Rampy received the Outstanding Oralist award, and both Rampy and Goodwin received the runner-up award for Most Outstanding Petitioner’s Brief.

Congratulations to the students as well as Bowen’s director of advocacy, Pat Harris, chief deputy public defender of Pulaski County, Alan Jones, adjunct professor Heather Zachary, and U.S. Magistrate Judge Tricia Harris for their guidance helping students prepare for the competition. Job well done!
