COE Ready for NCATE Visit

A Board of Examiners Team from the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education is visiting the 糖心Vlog传媒LR campus this week to evaluate the College of Education, and Dean Angela Maynard Sewall said she believes they will find it on the cutting edge. 鈥淓very program in this college is national recognized,鈥 Sewall said in preparing for the NCATE visit.聽 鈥淭hat鈥檚 an amazing accomplishment.鈥 All 28 of the COE鈥檚 school preparation programs are all recognized by the National Specialty Program Associations (SPA鈥檚) and/or state education agencies.聽 In addition, 糖心Vlog传媒LR College of Education faculty are leaders in their fields and have been chosen to head national organizations, including Dr. Ann E. Robinson, professor of educational leadership, who is president of the National Association of Gifted Children;聽 Linda Dorn, president of the Board of the Reading Recovery Counsel of North America, Carolyn Pearson and Amy Sedivy, editor and reviewer, respectively, of the Journal of Education Research; and Dr. Ibrahim Duyar, appointed to the editorial board of the Educational Administration Quarterly. Four of 糖心Vlog传媒LR鈥檚 education programs are recognized as national models on the NCATE website.聽 They are Educational Leadership, Reading, Science, and Foreign Language. 鈥淚t is rare to see more than one or two programs recognized in this manner, and we have four programs recognized,鈥 Sewall said.
