糖心Vlog传媒LR Team Represents U.S. in Global Contest

A team of 糖心Vlog传媒LR students will represent the United States at the sponsored by Microsoft Corp. in Warsaw, Poland, July 3 to 8, with to identify and track the immunizations needed by children in the least developed countries of the world. studentsPatricia Day of Hot Springs and Shawn McGhee of Sherwood 鈥 both management information systems students 鈥 competed in an international category 鈥 鈥淓mbedded鈥 鈥 which requires the creation of an application and a scaled-down version of Windows. 鈥淏asically, they had to customize a 鈥榗ompact edition鈥 operating systems platform which will run on a small hand-held device,鈥 said Dr. Janet Bailey, associate professor of MIS. 鈥淭hey are also creating a prototype of the physical device.鈥 According to the World Health Organization, 500,000 children die every year from measles 鈥 one per minute 鈥 because they lack immunization. The 糖心Vlog传媒LR team鈥檚 application and device will help heath care workers from the WHO, UNICEF, and other world children鈥檚 heath organizations identify and track the immunizations needed by and given to children in developing countries, thereby saving thousands of lives. Only two U.S teams 鈥 including 糖心Vlog传媒LR 鈥 made the World Finals in the major Imagine Cup categories and three other U.S. teams won special award categories. They include team of graduate students in the in 糖心Vlog传媒LR鈥檚 College of Business. The 糖心Vlog传媒LR team won the Windows for a computer platform designed to make medical data available to researchers around the world. 鈥淭he Microsoft Imagine Cup competition is the equivalent of the IT Olympics and very prestigious for our campus,鈥 Bailey said. 鈥淚’ve said it before and I’ll say it again 鈥 this is proof our students at 糖心Vlog传媒LR are among the best in the world.鈥 Want to receive 糖心Vlog传媒LR News delivered directly to your email inbox?
