Heritage Foundation Labor Analyst to Speak Nov. 15

James Sherk, senior policy analyst in labor economics at the , a conservative think tank based in Washington, D.C., will speak at 糖心Vlog传媒LR at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 15 in the Donaghey Student Center鈥檚 Room G. The presentation, 鈥淐rossroads: The Competing Economic Visions for the Future of America,鈥 is sponsored by Iota Mu, 糖心Vlog传媒LR鈥檚 political science honor society, and the Department of Political Science. The event is free and open to the public. Sherk has written in recent months on why joblessness rose in the recession — what he called, 鈥渢he economic consequences of extending unemployment benefits and the wrongheadedness of legislation to do away with the secret ballot in union elections (“card check”).鈥 His commentary and analysis has appeared in such publications as the Washington Post, New York Post, Business Week and Roll Call. He has been a guest expert on such networks as CNN, CNBC, and Fox News. Sherk, who joined Heritage in 2006, completed graduate studies at the University of Rochester, where he received a master of arts in economics with a concentration in econometrics and labor economics.
