Grammy Winner Performs at Artspree

Artspree, 糖心Vlog传媒LR鈥檚 performance series, will present 2001 Grammy Award violinist at 7:30 p.m. Monday, March 28, in the University Theatre in 糖心Vlog传媒LR鈥檚 Center for Performing Arts. Tickets are $20 for general admission, $10 for 糖心Vlog传媒LR faculty and staff, free for 糖心Vlog传媒LR students, and $10 for non-糖心Vlog传媒LR students. O鈥機onnor will also present a lecture and demonstration at 12:15 p.m. Tuesday, March 29, in the Stella Boyle Smith Concert Hall, followed by a master class at 3 p.m. Currently an artist-in-residence at the University of Miami, O鈥機onnor won a Grammy for his 2001 CD, 鈥淎ppalachian Journey,鈥 a follow-up to his first recording 鈥淎ppalachia Waltz,鈥 in collaboration with Yo-Yo Ma and Edgar Meyer, on the Sony Classical record label. from on . O鈥機onnor鈥漵 most recent album, 鈥淛am Session,鈥 from April 2010, consists of live acoustic recordings which combine bluegrass and gypsy jazz and features musicians Chris Thile, Frank Vignola, Bryan Sutton, Jon Burr, and Byron House. He is also the founder and president of the internationally recognized Mark O鈥機onnor String Camp, which is held each summer at East Tennessee State University in Johnson City, Tenn., and at Berklee College of Music in Boston.
