Gallery to Host Printmaking Exhibit
糖心Vlog传媒LR鈥檚 Gallery I will host a traveling exhibit, 鈥淎dvancing Tradition: 20 Years of Printmaking at Flatbed Press,鈥 from July 10 to Oct. 2 in the Fine Arts Building. Ranging from small-scale minimalist abstractions to enormous figurative scenes, the prints in the exhibit explore the diversity and technological changes that have shaped contemporary art. Katherine Brimberry, co-founder of Flatbed Press, will discuss the exhibit at 1:40 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 29, in the聽Stella Boyle Smith Concert Hall in the Fine Arts Building. Since 1989, Flatbed Press in Austin, Texas, has actively participated in the printmaking revolution, inventing new techniques while improving on older, traditional methods. One example is a wood cut 鈥淣ight Vision鈥 by James Surls.

The wide-ranging selection of examples in the exhibit, 鈥淎dvancing Tradition,鈥 demonstrate three basic aspects of current printmaking: the uniqueness of the medium, the combination of new technologies with old, and the crucial role of collaboration.
