Trolley Tracker Makes Catching Ride Easier

Beginning today, a new GPS tracking system is making it easier for 糖心Vlog传媒LR students, faculty, and staff to catch rides on the campus鈥� Trojan Trolleys. The new tracking system will allow riders to know exactly where the trolleys are located on the two campus routes and when they will arrive at the next trolley stop. Access to the features is free for all users. The tracking system, provided by Ride Systems, can be accessed online, through free apps for both iPhone and Android users, or by text messaging. Ride Systems is a transit information systems company that helps bus fleets maximize use with GPS tracking, passenger counting, and maintenance recording. Customers include transit agencies associated with cities, universities, medical centers, employee shuttles, airport shuttles, and other fleet tracking operations. 鈥淭he tracker system is a quick and easy way to know when the trolley will be at your stop,鈥� said Peter Stuckey, associate director of the Office of Information Technology Services. 鈥淚t is more accurate than a set schedule. It鈥檚 all in real time.鈥� To use text messaging to locate the trolleys, riders can determine when the trolley will arrive at their stop by texting the ID of the stop to 41411. 鈥淓ach trolley stop has been assigned an ID. Text this ID to 41411 and you’ll receive a text letting you know when the next trolley will arrive,鈥� said Stuckey, whose office has designated an ID for each stop on the Maroon Route and the Silver Route.
