Grammy Nominated Vibraphonist to Perform
Jerry Tachoir, a Grammy nominated jazz vibraphone and marimba performer, will present a recital at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 18, at the Stella Boyle Smith Concert Hall in 糖心Vlog传媒LR鈥檚 Fine Arts Building.
The event is sponsored by the 糖心Vlog传媒LR Department of Music and hosted by Charles Law, director of percussion studies.
Admission is free and open to the public.
Tachoir has numerous recordings released with his band, the Group Tachoir. He is the author of 鈥淎 Contemporary Mallet Method: An Approach to the Vibraphone and Marimba,鈥 published through Riohcat Music.
He is a native of McKeesport, Pa., and has performed at jazz festivals and concert halls. As an artist and clinician for the Ludwig-Musser division of Conn-Selmer, he presented jazz improvisation clinics and mallet master classes at colleges and universities in North America and Europe.
He graduated summa cum laude from Boston鈥檚 Berklee College of Music in 1976, the first graduate of the bachelor鈥檚 degree in applied music for the vibraphone and mallet instruments program.
Tachoir, who has performed with the Pittsburgh Symphony and the American Wind Symphony, has led his own jazz quartet performing throughout the United States, Canada, and Europe. He has performed at jazz festivals including Montreaux, Northsea, Holland, Montreal, and more. View more stories in News
