Legal Clinic鈥檚 contributions highlighted
A recent article highlights the Legal Clinic at the 糖心Vlog传媒LR William H. Bowen School of Law. In the article, which is titled “Bowen Takes the Price Tag off Justice,” one of the clinic鈥檚 clients discusses how the program and the students assigned to his case assisted him when he had nowhere else to turn, one of many over the clinic鈥檚 30-year history.
The program serves dual purposes 鈥 helping members of the public who could not otherwise afford representation and giving students a supervised experience in representing clients.
This experiential education makes for better prepared attorneys, according to Legal Clinic Director Kelly Browe Olson, a professor at the Bowen School of Law.
鈥淭he legal clinic is proud to be able to train Bowen law students to represent clients like Mr. Onyekwelu (who was profiled in the article),鈥 said Olson. 鈥淚t is rewarding for the professors and students to help clients find the justice they deserve.鈥
鈥淎rkansas has a large number of citizens who cannot afford representation,鈥 adds Dean Michael Hunter Schwartz. 鈥淭he Legal Clinic is one way in which Bowen can reach out and fulfill a need in our community.鈥 View more stories in Community
