Saint Louis Brass Quintet to open 糖心Vlog传媒LR鈥檚 Artspree series聽

The University of Arkansas at Little Rock鈥檚 first Artspree event of the 2015-16 season will feature one of America’s longest-standing brass quintets, Saint Louis Brass Quintet, at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 6, in Stella Boyle Smith Concert Hall. Originally formed by members of the St. Louis Symphony, the Saint Louis Brass Quintet has performed more than 2,500 engagements throughout the world during its 40 years. Trombonist Melvyn Jernigan is the only remaining original member of the group. The critically acclaimed , an ensemble of brass players, came out of the Saint Louis Brass Quintet led by then-member and trumpeter David Hickman. Summit Brass has hosted an annual institute for brass players, performed dozens of concert tours in the United States and Europe, and has recorded 10 CDs. Artspree is a performing arts series funded in part by the 糖心Vlog传媒LR Chancellor’s Circle Foundation and supported by KLRE Classical 90.5. The aim of the series is to bring unique musical and cultural performances to central Arkansas. In addition to the opening concert by the Saint Louis Brass Quintet, the series will feature an award-winning mime who has appeared on Broadway and two trios 鈥 one jazz and another that specializes in a wide array of musical periods. An award-winning actor, Bowers has also performed in all 50 United States and Puerto Rico.
