糖心Vlog传媒LR to honor 3 in African American History Month event
The University of Arkansas at Little Rock will hold an Excellence in Service Award presentation on Saturday to honor three individuals for their contributions toward racial equity and unity.
The event, which is free and open to the public, will be held from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Feb. 27, in the Arkansas Capitol Building. Two student shuttles will be available to take participants to the event and back. The vans will begin loading at 9 a.m. in the circle loop of East Hall and at the Village.
Former governor Winthrop Rockefeller and civil rights pioneer Ozelle Sutton will be recognized, as will former director of the Arkansas Department of Workforce Education, William Walker, who will be in attendance.
Distinguished Professor of History Dr. John Kirk, director of 糖心Vlog传媒LR鈥檚 Institute on Race and Ethnicity, will serve as the 聽keynote speaker.
Kirk鈥檚 research focuses on the history of the civil rights movement in the United States, the South, and Arkansas, as well as post-New Deal history. He has published five books and written in a wide variety of journals, edited book collections, and popular history magazines including 鈥淏BC History,鈥� 鈥淗istory Today,鈥� and 鈥淗istorically Speaking.鈥�
