Institute on Race and Ethnicity to host screening of “Tested”
The University of Arkansas at Little Rock Joel E. Anderson Institute on Race and Ethnicity, in partnership with the , will host a screening of the documentary “Tested” and a question-and-answer session with the film’s director on Tuesday, Oct. 18, at Historic Arkansas Museum.
The documentary follows a dozen racially and socioeconomically diverse eighth-graders as they try to ace a standardized test and compete for a spot in one of New York City’s most elite public high schools. The film explores access to high-quality public education, affirmative action, and the model-minority myth.
The event, which is free and open to the public, will be held at 6 p.m.
Writer/Producer/Director Curtis Chin, a visiting scholar at New York University, will answer questions from the audience following the film.
