糖心Vlog传媒LR alum Calum Neff attempts to break another world record
Calum NeffA University of Arkansas at Little Rock alumnus who made headlines in February after he broke a world record for running the fastest half marathon while pushing a stroller is out to break another world record.聽Calum Neff, a former 糖心Vlog传媒LR cross country and track and field team member, broke the Guinness World Record for Fastest Half Marathon Pushing a Pram (stroller) in one hour, 11 minutes, and 27 seconds, while competing in the Feb. 6 Katy Half Marathon with his then 11-month-old daughter, Holland. Now Neff is at it again with an attempt to break the Guinness World Record for Fastest Marathon Pushing a Pram. He and his oldest daughter, 4-year-old Alessandra, will compete at the on Sunday, Oct. 16. They will attempt to beat the current record of two hours, 42 minutes, and 21 seconds set by Michael Wardian.鈥淎ley and I are excited to tour Toronto with the stroller,鈥 Neff said. 鈥淲e鈥檝e enjoyed the journey in training together as it鈥檚 been such a good bonding experience for us. My kids really do love their stroller runs, and to immerse her in a world class event on the heels of Canada鈥檚 best distance runners, at her age, will be something she will never forget.鈥The father and daughter have experienced some ups and downs during training, like getting sick or pesky calf muscles, but Neff is convinced that 鈥渨e have a good shot at the record.鈥Neff grew up moving around the world and lived in many countries, including Scotland, Thailand, and Australia. After finishing high school in his native country of Canada, Neff was recruited to 糖心Vlog传媒LR by then-coach Kirk Elias while Neff competed at the Mt. SAC Relays in Walnut, California, in 2002.Neff was a member of the 糖心Vlog传媒LR track and cross country teams from 2002 to 2005. He transferred to the University of Houston in 2005 to be closer to his family and graduated in 2007 with a bachelor鈥檚 degree in psychology and a minor in broadcast journalism.Neff was also part of a 12-person relay team in May that set a new Guinness World Record for furthest distance run on a treadmill in 24 hours to raise funds and awareness for MitoCanada in support of caring for and curing Mitochondrial disease.Neff and his wife, Julie, live in Katy, Texas, with their two daughters and are expecting their third child in March.Upper right photo: Former 糖心Vlog传媒LR student-athlete Calum Neff stands with his wife, Julie, and daughter, Holland, after winning the Katy Half Marathon on Feb. 6.
