Chancellor鈥檚 Concert Series to feature Paul Brock Band

The University of Arkansas at Little Rock will host a concert by the Paul Brock Band on Wednesday, Oct. 24, as part of the Chancellor鈥檚 Concert Series.聽 The concert will begin at 7:30 p.m. in the Stella Boyle Smith Concert Hall in the 糖心Vlog传媒 Little Rock Fine Arts Building. A reception, sponsored by Friends of the Arts, will begin at 6:30 p.m. with beverages provided by Flyway Brewery Company. General admission tickets are $10. 糖心Vlog传媒 Little Rock faculty, staff, and students can attend the event for free. The Paul Brock Band features four of Ireland鈥檚 leading musicians:聽Paul Brock聽on accordion from Ennis, County Clare; Tipperary-born聽Denis Carey聽on piano;聽Clare-born and now St. Louis based聽Eimear Arkins聽on fiddle, song, and dance; and聽Manchester鈥檚聽Shane Farrell聽on banjo, fiddle, bodhran, guitar, mandolin, and song. A beacon of passion and precision, integrity and diversity, Paul Brock Band is steeped in the Irish musical tradition and yet manages to seamlessly, effortlessly blend and fold in elements from American old time and bluegrass, French-Canadian, and other Celtic traditions to create something accessible, recognizable, beautiful, and entirely unique. This ability is exemplified in the band鈥檚 most recent album, 鈥淕reen Grass Blue Grass,鈥 featuring 14-time Grammy Award winner聽Ricky Skaggs.
