New art exhibit features landscapes by 糖心Vlog传媒 Little Rock chancellor]]> University of Arkansas at Little Rock Chancellor Andrew Rogerson has a collection of landscapes currently on exhibit at the Central Arkansas Library System鈥檚 in downtown Little Rock. The collection, simply titled 鈥淟andscapes,鈥 features about 18 oil paintings on display through Aug. 25. Rogerson spent decades as a microbiologist and researcher, exploring life in microscopic detail, seeking discovery and revelation. He paints landscapes to explore nature as he sees it鈥攖hrough the process of translation with brush, canvas, and oil paints. This scientific view, informed by a sense of exploration and creativity, defines Rogerson鈥檚 work and his search for truth through art. The Central Arkansas Library System鈥檚 art program is located in the Arkansas Studies Institute, 401 President Clinton Ave. Gallery hours are 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday through Saturday. Community invited to April 26 lecture on Islamic faith]]> Dr. Mahmoud Al-Denaway Hassanein, Iman of the Little Rock Islamic Center, will give a public lecture explaining the core ideas of the Islamic faith for those who are unfamiliar with Islam.听 The talk, 鈥淒emystifying Islam: An Introduction to the Faith,鈥 will begin at 7 p.m. April 26, in Room 124 at the Arkansas Studies Institute, 401 President Clinton Ave. in Little Rock. 鈥淚slam is a religion that is poorly understood by Americans,鈥 said Eric Wiebelhaus-Brahm, University of Arkansas at Little Rock assistant professor of political science. 鈥淭he media often portrays extreme interpretations of the faith as if they were shared by all Muslims. In his talk, Dr. Al-Denaway will provide an overview of the basic tenets of Islam held by mainstream Muslims.鈥 Al-Denaway served as an assistant professor of Islamic Studies at Al-Azhar University from 2007 to 2015. He has hosted and appeared on many Egyptian television programs, has served as an English-Arabic interpreter, and has translated more than 10 academic books.
