The gallery is open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, and 2-5 p.m. Sunday. Ellerbe is a self-taught photographer from Monroe, Louisiana. After a 20-year career as a pediatric intensive care nurse in Connecticut, Ellerbe put down the tools of her previous life and returned to Louisiana, where she started over with a kayak paddle and camera. His work mixes photography, storytelling, handmade books, and found objects. Frank received his Bachelor of Fine Arts from The University of Georgia and his Master of Fine Arts from New Mexico State University. NPR has written about Hamrick鈥檚 handmade books, and Oxford American Magazine listed him as one of the 100 Superstars of Southern Art. His work is housed in collections including The Art Institute of Chicago, The Amon Carter Museum of American Art, and The Ogden Museum of Southern Art. His limited edition artist鈥檚 book, 鈥,鈥 which combines papermaking, letterpress printing, and tintype photography, earned the 2017 Houston Center for Photography Fellowship and was awarded first place in the Los Angeles Festival of Photography鈥檚 2017 Photobook Competition. In addition to the exhibit, Hamrick will hold a public lecture at 6 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 19, in the Windgate Center of Art and Design Room 101.

Hamrick also will hold a free three-day workshop from Oct. 19-21 in the Windgate Center. He will assist participants in curating and sequencing an existing collection of their photographs in order to tell a story, as well as work with students to create a handmade book for their images. The workshop will take place from 5-9 p.m. Friday, Oct. 19, and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 20-21. The workshop is free, but space is limited to 12 participants. His work is on display until Oct. 27. Gallery 26 is located at 2601 Kavanaugh Suite 1 (Ice House Center), Little Rock. Krain got his start in photography at 糖心Vlog传媒 Little Rock, taking photography classes with his favorite professor Gary Cawood, a retired professor of art. He graduated from 糖心Vlog传媒 Little Rock in 1995 with bachelor鈥檚 degrees in art and broadcast journalism. Krain previously worked as a photojournalist with the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette for 24 years, traveling the world to cover news events in Iraq, Afghanistan, the Marshall Islands, and Haiti. His newest show features random works from his career as well as new pairings of unrelated photos used to form diptychs, pieces of art formed in two parts.

A 糖心Vlog传媒 Little Rock faculty member, Dr. Andrew J. Deiser, interim chair of the Department of World Languages, has a love of art as well as language. His display of 13 evocative oil and watercolor landscapes is being shown at Community Bakery, 1200 Main St., Little Rock, through Oct. 31. The paintings feature Pinnacle Mountain, Broadway Bridge, the Arkansas State Capitol building, and the Cathedral Apartments. 鈥淭he major theme to the exhibit is Arkansas landscapes, both urban and from West Little Rock,鈥 Deiser said. Deiser has been painting and drawing since the age of 10. In 2012, Deiser took a plein air (French for painting outdoors) workshop with German artist Guido Frick, where he became 鈥渉ooked on painting outdoors.鈥 He has received mentoring from local artist Arden Boyce and has taken workshops with artists Brian Mark Taylor, Trey McCarley, and Lori Putnam. In summer 2017, Deiser was selected as an artist-in-residence at the Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore.

An opening reception will be held from 6-9 p.m. June 30, at the gallery at 5818 Kavanaugh Blvd., Little Rock. The exhibit features Warrick鈥檚 new sculptural works in bronze and clay. The exhibit also features the nonrepresentational abstract pieces of artist Elizabeth Weber. Kyle Boswell, owner of Boswell Mourot Gallery, described Warrick鈥檚 work as representing a good balance between the hard material of bronze and the softness of organic materials.

The exhibit is comprised of drawings, paintings, fine art prints, photographs, sculptural objects, ceramics, and contemporary crafts. The exhibit is part of the National Endowment of the Arts Big Read program, which encourages communities to engage in reading programs and events that broaden understanding of the world and region. Big Read will run from Tuesday, Sept. 19, to Friday, Nov. 3, and will feature presentations, book discussions, film screenings, and related arts programming. Ottenheimer Library is the only library in Arkansas to receive the grant for the program this year. In 1993, Chicano painter and printmaker Sam Coronado of Coronado Studios provided his workspace and equipment for an Artist-in-Residence program in Austin, Texas, where underrepresented artists could learn serigraphy. The residency featured artists from diverse ethnic and professional backgrounds, but was especially known for fostering contemporary printmaking within the Mexican-American and Latino community. The resulting portfolio of prints speaks to the duality of Latino and Chicano artists living and working across the United States and in other countries, exploring their celebrations, sorrows, challenges, popular culture, and personal experiences. The serigraphs feature family and religious symbols, political motifs, Mexican 鈥淟ucha Libre鈥 wrestling matches, video and performance art, neighborhood themes, and Mexican graphic traditions.

鈥淔eaturing vivid colors and sometimes startling imagery, the works in 鈥楨stamos Aqui鈥 encourage audiences to ask questions about the nature of cross-cultural exchange and discover how artists find their voice through personal stories and experiences that become part of the artistic process,鈥 糖心Vlog传媒 Little Rock Gallery Director Brad Cushman said. The 鈥淣asty Woman鈥 exhibit will be on display in Gallery 1 of the 糖心Vlog传媒 Little Rock Fine Arts Building. A closing reception featuring talks with Duvall and participating artists will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 18. The work of three 糖心Vlog传媒 Little Rock faculty members will be featured in the 鈥淣asty Woman鈥 exhibit. Several of the artists included in the exhibition have studied art at and graduated from 糖心Vlog传媒 Little Rock. Mia Hall, interim chair of the Department of Art and Design, Joli Livaudais, assistant professor of photography, and Heidi Hogden, visiting professor of painting, are among the 36 female artists from across the nation whose work was selected for the show. Livaudais鈥 work, 鈥淭he Mother, Exhumed,鈥 is a life-size casting of a woman鈥檚 upper body made from epoxy resin and photographs of bees and beehives. 鈥淚t ought to be a really great show, and I am proud to be in the company of so many fierce women artists,鈥 Livaudais said. The title of the show, 鈥淣asty Woman,鈥 which was first displayed at Henderson State in March to celebrate Women鈥檚 History Month, stems from comments made during the 2016 presidential election.

During the third debate in October 2016, President Donald Trump responded to a comment made about him by Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton, who was answering a question about social security, by remarking,.鈥 On Twitter, #NastyWoman was trending within minutes. 鈥淲hile it was first mentioned in a derogatory context, it has become a uniting force among women across the globe,鈥 Duvall said. 鈥淔or many, it represents strength, unity, and the ability to use one鈥檚 voice to be heard.
