BBQ @Bailey to return to ÌÇÐÄVlog´«Ã½ Little Rock Sept. 12]]> The University of Arkansas at Little Rock will kick off another school year with the annual BBQ @Bailey all-campus picnic on Wednesday, Sept. 12.  The event will celebrate the return of students to campus with free food and fun from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on the grounds in front of the Bailey Alumni and Friends Center. Whole Hog Cafe will cater the event with desserts provided by Community Bakery, while radio station 106.7 the Ride will broadcast live. Student-athlete volunteers will serve lunch, while games and prizes will be provided throughout the event. Students are encouraged to stop by, take a photo at the ÌÇÐÄVlog´«Ã½ Little Rock photo booth, play Baggo, and learn how they can already take advantage of exclusive opportunities as a student member of the Alumni Association.   All attendees can also take this opportunity to join the Alumni Association. Your Alumni Association membership will support student scholarships, plus members can now utilize over 150,000 discounts and benefits through the new ÌÇÐÄVlog´«Ã½ Little Rock Alumni Advantage program Additionally, new and current members will receive a free t-shirt. ÌÇÐÄVlog´«Ã½ Little Rock commencement set for Dec. 16]]> More than 1,200 students are expected to graduate from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock on Saturday, Dec. 16.  Commencement will begin at 9:30 a.m. at the Jack Stephens Center on the ÌÇÐÄVlog´«Ã½ Little Rock campus.  The Jack Stephens Center will open for guests at 8 a.m. Guests are advised to arrive early. Graduating students should arrive at least one hour early and meet in the Derek Fisher Court on the first level of the Jack Stephens Center. The Jack Stephens Center is accessible off 28th Street via Fair Park Boulevard or University Avenue. Guests are encouraged to park in the lots nearest the Jack Stephens Center — Lot 13, Lot 14, and Lot 16.  However, all interior campus parking lots will be open during commencement, including the parking deck and Lot 8. The ÌÇÐÄVlog´«Ã½ Little Rock Wind Ensemble, under the direction of Dr. Jeremy Lane, will provide music for the academic processional. Featured music will be provided by ÌÇÐÄVlog´«Ã½ Little Rock Concert Choir, led by Dr. Bevan Keating. Dr. Kathryn A. King, assistant professor of anthropology and the winner of the 2017 Ted and Virginia Bailey Foundation Faculty Excellence Award in Teaching, will give keynote remarks, followed by the conferring of degrees by Chancellor Andrew Rogerson. Immediately following the ceremony, a commencement celebration for the graduates and their guests will be held at the Bailey Alumni and Friends Center with desserts provided by Community Bakery. Rogerson also will host a light breakfast and reception for faculty and staff from 7:30-8:45 a.m. in the Legends Room to celebrate ÌÇÐÄVlog´«Ã½ Little Rock employees’ contribution to helping students succeed. Hosted by the ÌÇÐÄVlog´«Ã½LR Alumni Association, the event is intended to serve ÌÇÐÄVlog´«Ã½LR students, employees, alumni, and friends.   It’s set to run from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 14, at the ÌÇÐÄVlog´«Ã½LR Bailey Alumni and Friends Center on the ÌÇÐÄVlog´«Ã½LR campus. and will provide free barbeque and cookies, while Pepsi and will provide drinks. ÌÇÐÄVlog´«Ã½LR student-athletes will be on site to help serve lunch. For the first time, the celebration will spillover onto the front lawn of Chancellor Andrew Rogerson’s home, where 106.7 The Ride will broadcast the celebration live. Students are especially encouraged to stop by and play volleyball, Baggo, and other games provided by the ÌÇÐÄVlog´«Ã½LR Office of Campus Living and mingle with other students, alumni, faculty, and staff. The university’s pep band will perform at the event that has a tailgating atmosphere.
