��Vlog��ý Little Rock will offer its first Covid-19 booster shot clinic for Pfizer’s vaccine on Tuesday, Oct. 19. In partnership with Don’s Pharmacy, the booster clinic will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Donaghey Student Center Ledbetter Hall A and B. Booster shots will be given for up to 300 people. . Clinic participants should bring a photocopy of the front of their insurance card, an immunization consent form, and the original Covid-19 vaccination card. Those who are eligible for a booster shot received a Pfizer vaccine by April 19 and are in one of the following categories: 65 years or older, 18+ with an underlying medical condition, 18+ who work in high-risk settings, or 18+ who live in high-risk settings. All ��Vlog��ý Little Rock employees meet the category of those who are 18+ and working in high-risk settings. ��Vlog��ý Little Rock students should visit this website to determine their eligibility for the booster shot. People who received a Covid-19 vaccination from Moderna or Johnson & Johnson are not eligible for a booster shot during this clinic. Additional booster shot clinics will be offered in the future. ��Vlog��ý Little Rock Health Services will offer flu shots to the campus community during campuswide clinics Oct. 13-19. In collaboration with the School of Nursing, flu vaccines will be available from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Oct. 13 in Donaghey Student Center Ledbetter Hall. Additional clinics will be held: · Thursday, Oct. 14, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Health Services · Friday, Oct. 15, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Health Services · Monday, Oct. 18, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Health Services · Tuesday, Oct. 19, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Heath Services Those who are receiving a flu shot are required to wear a mask and should dress for easy access to the upper arm by wearing short sleeves. . Click on the tabs at the top of the of the webpage to select the date of your appointment. The flu vaccine offered through Health Services is FL��Vlog��ýRIX quadrivalent, which is created without preservatives and does not contain thimerosal. This vaccine protects against H1N1, H3N2, B/Victoria lineage, and B-Yamagata lineage. Those with health insurance should bring their insurance card to their appointment. Most insurance companies cover 100 percent of the cost of the flu vaccines with no copay, co-insurance, or any out-of-pocket expense. If your insurance does not cover the flu vaccine, you will not be charged. Those without insurance will receive the vaccine at no cost as well. Anyone who is 65 and older and would like to take the FLUZONE High-Dose Quadrivalent vaccine must schedule an appointment with Health Services by calling 501-916-3188.

Improvements coming to Donaghey Student Center in the fall

In response to student feedback, the University of Arkansas at Little Rock is making many renovations at the Donaghey Student Center over the summer to transform the DSC into a more inviting space for students to meet, eat, play, and study. “We have listened to your ideas for improving the DSC, and I think you will be pleased with what you find this fall,” Chancellor Andrew Rogerson said. “We are currently in the process of creating more multipurpose areas, including gathering and gaming spaces. We’re also remodeling the entryway on the west side of the DSC and creating more student lounge space for your activities.” With the eStem High School students now dining on the second floor of Ross Hall beginning in the fall, students can take advantage of extra lounge and eating spaces throughout the DSC with many changes come to ��Vlog��ý Little Rock Dining Services. Outside of the continuous dining area, a new lounging and dining space with open seating for more than 175 people will be available. This open seating area will be accessible to all students, faculty, staff, and visitors and does not require the purchase of a meal to gain entry. Some new seating options in the continuous dining and open seating area will contain plugins for students to charge their electronic devices. “The focus is on making it a student-friendly area. It’s a great space for popup dining and class projects. It will serve as an excellent spot for friends to gather for a meal, for students to meet to work on class projects, and for students and faculty members to come together,” said Doug Britt, general manager of ��Vlog��ý Little Rock Dining. A bigger and better Meeting Room G will also open in the fall with more seating than before. The meeting room will be accessible through the cafeteria or an outside entrance for people coming from the south end of campus. Students can also look forward to a new Starbucks coming to campus next year. The restaurant will be located in the quad on the back side of the Old Student Union A building with a patio seating area facing Cooper Fountain and is scheduled to open on Jan. 20, 2020. On the east side of the DSC, upgrades will include the creation of multipurpose and recreational student-gathering spaces where students can watch television and movies, play e-games, and have fun with pool tables and foosball. The new gaming and lounge areas will be open several nights a week for the exclusive use of students and student organizations. “Students will be coming back to a Donaghey Student Center with a different, more inviting look,” said Dr. Mark Allen Poisel, vice chancellor for student affairs. “These improvements are about transforming the area into more student-accessible spaces that will give students more reasons to hang out in the student center.”

New lease, improvement projects planned for ��Vlog��ý Little Rock student center

The University of Arkansas at Little Rock and eStem High School have reached a lease agreement that provides eStem with an alternative space for its high school students to dine and relax instead of in the Donaghey Student Center.

The agreement gives eStem use of the south end of the second floor of Ross Hall, which is close to the public charter high school. The space excludes the interior lobby and balcony area that separates the south and north wings of the building, with the exception for emergency exit purposes.

“This new plan gives ��Vlog��ý Little Rock students full use of the Donaghey Student Center,” Chancellor Andrew Rogerson said. “Potential students and their families considering ��Vlog��ý Little Rock need to know that we are doing everything possible to provide an affordable and quality learning environment for our students.”

On June 11, Rogerson announced to faculty, staff, and students improvements now in the works for the DSC. Upgrades include adding multipurpose spaces and recreational spaces with e-gaming opportunities, movies, and pool tables for students. Also, Rogerson announced the addition of a new Starbucks to open on campus in spring 2020. The coffee shop will be located in the quad on the back side of the Old Student Union A building with patio seating facing Cooper Fountain.

The lease with eStem was signed May 31 by Donald Bobbitt, president of the University of Arkansas System, acting on behalf of ��Vlog��ý Little Rock, and John Bacon, chief executive officer of eStem Public Charter Schools, Inc. Under the terms, the charter school will pay $7,500 monthly ($90,000 annually) to rent the Ross Hall space. The new lease took effect June 1.

The 4,385-square-foot space will serve as the dining area for eStem’s students who have been using the Donaghey Student Center for dining since the high school opened in fall 2017. The charter school will be responsible for securing its own food service vendor.

Some alterations will be made to Ross Hall – mainly construction of a wall to separate the spaces used by eStem students on the south wing from the north wing of Ross Hall, which will continue to be used by ��Vlog��ý Little Rock. Costs for alterations will be paid by eStem.

The lease also specifies that eStem will monitor student behavior and noise levels in Ross Hall. The new agreement is intended to eliminate congestion in the Donaghey Student Center where some college students, faculty, and staff had complained of noise and overcrowding.

Open seating now available in Donaghey Student Center, more changes coming to ��Vlog��ý Little Rock Dining

Open seating is now available for ��Vlog��ý Little Rock students, faculty, and staff at the Trojan Café in the Donaghey Student Center. The seating area was closed off during the fall 2018 semester when ��Vlog��ý Little Rock Dining Services converted the Trojan Café to an all-you-can-eat dining area that required the purchase of a meal to gain entry. Now, a meal purchase will not be required to access the open seating area located to the right of the cashier. The area can seat approximately 170 people. ��Vlog��ý Little Rock will also begin renovations for a new Starbucks this summer, which will be located in the quad on the back side of the Old Student Union A building with a patio seating area facing Cooper Fountain. Starbucks is scheduled to open in January 2020. The Trojan Café will close on May 14 to undergo renovations for the summer. The dining facility will reopen in fall 2019 with a new look. Meanwhile, a chef will reimagine the menu with new food options. Current food stations will be revamped to include a Chef’s Table featuring international fares. Additionally, Conference Room G in the Donaghey Student Center will also be renovated over the summer and reopen for use in the fall. The Trojan Café will have new dining hours in the 2019-20 academic year, 7-10 a.m. for breakfast and 10:45 a.m.-2 p.m. for lunch. Dining Services will also offer continuous dining from 2-5 p.m. for lunch and 5-7:30 p.m. for dinner. While Trojan Café is closed over the summer, the ��Vlog��ý Little Rock community can dine at the Trojan Bistro from 10 a.m.-1:30 p.m. and Tres Habaneros from 7-9 a.m. and 11 a.m-1 p.m. Monday through Friday. Tres Habaneros will serve buffet foods, and students and employees can use their meal plans at this location. The Library Café in Ottenheimer Library also will be open from 10 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

University of Arkansas at Little Rock Athletics has announced a major renovation to the Trojan Fieldhouse, one of the original athletic facilities constructed in 1969. The $725,000 project will be funded in part through a generous private donation from the Donaghey Foundation as the fieldhouse will be renamed the Donaghey Athletic Center. The project will provide much needed enhancements while updating areas utilized by Little Rock student-athletes. “The renovation to the Donaghey Athletic Center will provide expanded opportunities for our student-athletes,” said Vice Chancellor and Director of Athletics Chasse Conque. “This project is crucial to our future success and will aid our coaches in recruiting and competing for championships. We are grateful to the Donaghey Foundation for their generous support in helping us continue to enhance the experience for the Little Rock Trojans and giving our coaches a first-class facility in which to work.” Located inside the Donaghey Student Center, the Donaghey Athletic Center houses coaching offices, locker room and training facilities and support services for the Trojan swimming and diving, soccer, men’s and women’s golf, and men’s and women’s track and field/cross country programs. It also houses the Aquatic Center, the home pool for the Trojan swimming and diving team. The renovations will provide Trojan student-athletes with an updated weight room and athletic training area, as well as the addition of a nutrition center. It will also provide a complete remodeling of coaching and administrative offices as well as locker rooms and common areas. Enhancements will begin in August with the entire projected expected to be completed by December.

Gradfest to kick off March 8 and 9

University of Arkansas at Little Rock students who are graduating this spring can find all of their commencement-day needs at Gradfest Wednesday and Thursday, March 8 and 9. The event will be held in the Donaghey Student Center between the ��Vlog��ý Little Rock Bookstore and Health Services Center. Caps and gowns will be available for purchase throughout Gradfest, along with official ��Vlog��ý Little Rock class rings and graduation announcements. Representatives from several university departments, including financial aid, records and registration, and graduate school will be present to speak with students about graduation applications, post-graduate opportunities, and commencement information. The Alumni Association will speak with students about the benefits of becoming a member, as well as the memorabilia they offer, including personalized bricks and college license plates. Students who attend the event will have the opportunity to complete a survey to be entered into a drawing for a chance to win a $300 ��Vlog��ý Little Rock Graduate Packet. Included will be a cap and gown, a personalized brick, an alumni t-shirt, an alumni license plate frame, and an official ��Vlog��ý Little Rock diploma frame. Students at the University at the Arkansas at Little Rock can look forward to gaining valuable tools during this month’s Student Success Workshop Series. From 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 7, and Friday, Feb. 10, Avestine Ward, certified credit counselor and First Year Experience adjunct, will advise students on how to manage their budgets, credit, and purchases during “How Do I Keep My Money?” “This workshop will teach students quick banking strategies as well as the value of having good credit,” said Trakenya Dobbins, interim director of the Office of Undergraduate Academic Advising. “This will help them to get life started the right way.” The following workshop, “Can I Just Say What I’m Thinking,” focuses on professional communication in the workplace. This session will take place from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 14, and Friday, Feb. 17, in Donaghey Student Center Room 205 D . “We want to teach students early on how to properly execute a complaint or voice their concerns in the workplace in the right manner,” Dobbins said. This workshop will be led by Cassandra Woods, human resource training and development manager and Title IX deputy director. Daniel Spillers, lead web developer for Information Technology Services, and Meaghan Milliorn, online marketing manager, will tackle “How Do I Establish a Professional Digital Footprint” from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 21, and Friday, Feb. 24. During this workshop, these web gurus will navigate students through new Google applications, while also making them aware of email and social media boundaries.
