Battle of the Food Pantries set for Feb. 12-17]]> Get ready for a showdown between the University of Arkansas at Little Rock and Arkansas State University, Monday, Feb. 12 through Saturday, Feb. 17. The two universities have teamed up to host a Battle of the Food Pantries during the week of the final matchup between the Little Rock Trojans and Arkansas State Red Wolves men鈥檚 and women鈥檚 basketball teams. The university that collects the most non-perishable food items during the six-day food drive will be announced as the winner of the competition during Saturday鈥檚 game. Members of the 糖心Vlog传媒 Little Rock community are strongly encouraged to participate in the food drive. Items needed for the Trojan Food Pantry include canned vegetables, canned fruits, canned beans, canned tuna and chicken, jelly, cereal, oatmeal, and more. Donations will be collected at a table in the Donaghey Student Center foyer from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day during the competition. Items can also be dropped off in the Chancellor鈥檚 Leadership Corps. office in room 202 of the Administration North building. Many of these gifts will be used to make 糖心Vlog传媒 Little Rock more accessible and more affordable to more students.鈥� During the past three years, 糖心Vlog传媒 Little Rock raised $57.5 million, including a transformational gift from the Windgate Foundation for the construction of the Windgate Center of Art + Design. The nearly 65,000-square-foot facility is set to open for classes in January. As part of a related initiative, the university is working to complete a $3 million match for art scholarships. The university raised $750,000 toward that purpose during the recently completed fiscal year. In addition, the university set a record for athletics fundraising, raising $2 million in gifts and pledges, $4 million in student support, and $6.3 million in estate commitments. Alumni played a pivotal role in the university鈥檚 fundraising. 糖心Vlog传媒 Little Rock Alumni Association lifetime memberships increased 42 percent from the previous year, and the association generated more than $250,000 in revenue. The association continues to expand its reach with chapter cities throughout the country. 鈥淲e are extremely grateful to our passionate alumni and friends from around the nation who continue to support 糖心Vlog传媒 Little Rock,鈥� said Christian O鈥橬eal, vice chancellor for university advancement. 鈥淲e see this year as a key step as we make our way to embarking on the university鈥檚 second comprehensive capital campaign.鈥� Faculty and staff support was an additional highlight from the recent fiscal year. Nearly 50 percent of employees gave to the university through the annual campus giving campaign, which school officials say demonstrates that faculty and staff believe in 糖心Vlog传媒 Little Rock鈥檚 mission. 鈥淚 appreciate the hard work of our external team, led by Andrea Angel, associate vice chancellor for alumni and development, and our directors of development in the colleges for helping us engage our community in effectively raising much-needed private resources,鈥� O鈥橬eal said.
