Employees can also enjoy fresh fruit, box lunches, chips, cookies, and soft drinks. Additionally, the Department of Human Resources will host a series of informational meetings where employees can leave about employee benefits. The informational meetings will be held from 10-11:30 a.m. and 1-2:30 p.m. on Oct. 11, 16, 23, and 24. Workshop to teach employees how to get fit without the gym]]> The University of Arkansas at Little Rock is showing employees how to get fit without a gym membership by using a few simple workout devices and exercises.听 Employee Wellness Coordinator Karl Lenser will lead the workshop, 鈥淔itness: No Gym Required,鈥 at noon on Tuesday, Jan. 9, in the Donaghey Student Center Leadership Lounge. During the presentation, employees will learn how to get fit by using an exercise ball, resistance band, and kettlebell to complete multiple-joint exercises to maximize workout efficiency. The exercise routine is a perfect home workout that takes 15-20 minutes and works core muscles, legs, glutes, and upper body, Lenser said. Preregistration is required.   • Participate in a biometric screening

At the end of each week, employees will document their times for a chance to win Visa gift cards, exercise bands, ab rollers, and foot massage rollers. Because names of participants will be randomly selected to win prizes, participants don鈥檛 have to worry about trying to outperform the competition. The overall goal of the fitness challenge is to promote healthier lifestyles among 糖心Vlog传媒LR employees that will positively impact their home and work lives. Today, he clocks in more than 80 minutes of exercise a day. Kanekar was one of hundreds of 糖心Vlog传媒LR employees who attended the employee wellness fair July 27 in Donaghey Student Center. 鈥淚 got to do all the health screenings, and they show how much the exercise is helping,鈥 he said. Employees participated in free health screenings, including height, weight, body mass index, cholesterol, glucose, blood pressure, and body composition. Those with University of Arkansas System (UMR) insurance who completed a biometric screening and other requirements got the added bonus of qualifying for a $1,400 reduction in the maximum amount of out-of-pocket medical expenses for the 2017 health plan. About 220 employees completed the biometric screening during the health fair. Employees who complete the screening, an, and take a tobacco/nicotine pledge and personal health plan pledge by Sept. 30 will qualify for the reduction. A drawing for a $50 gift card was held every hour. Winners included Karen Palmer, Leisa Myles, Nancy Rea, Tammy Scaife, Leah Thorvilson, Laquinta Johnson, and Ellen Binford. Employees also enjoyed free massages from the students at in Maumelle. Representatives from the Employee Assistance Program, American Heart Association, and the 糖心Vlog传媒LR Office of Counseling Services, along with UMR health coaches, were on site. Mandi Berry, a Heart Walk associate with the American Heart Association, urged 糖心Vlog传媒LR employees to stay heart healthy and to sign up for the 2017 Central Arkansas Heart Walk April 29, 2017, in North Little Rock. 听 鈥淲e want people to stay healthy,鈥 Berry said. 鈥淗eart disease is the No. 1 cause of death and stroke is the No. 5 cause of death in the United States. The workplace is an excellent place to promote health and get the word out.鈥 Berry also encouraged employees to visit for a personalized health assessment or to text 鈥淗BPAR鈥 to 97779 to learn about blood pressure. 糖心Vlog传媒LR Employee Wellness Coordinator Karl Lenser said the fair was 鈥渘onstop action.鈥 鈥淭he goal of the fair is for people to learn more about their health and their risk factors for chronic diseases,鈥 Lenser said. 鈥The turnout has been amazing. Many employees are getting their biometric screening done and also learning about what services are available to them through the Employee Wellness Program.
