Small Business Center plans startup events at Tech Park]]> The center, based at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, is excited about partnering with the to offer events downtown, said State Director Laura Fine. 鈥淭hese seminars will address key issues for startup entrepreneurs,鈥 Fine said. 鈥淭he Tech Park is a great place for those planning entrepreneurial ventures to gather and learn.鈥 The first of the seminars is 鈥淐reating a Lean Canvas鈥 on March 14.聽Lean Canvas is a tool to help prospective and new entrepreneurs define, structure and develop their technology, service or business idea. The session will guide participants through completing each section of the canvas. On March 28, 鈥淟et鈥檚 Make It Legal鈥 will help participants choose the best legal structure for their ventures. Students from the Business Innovations Center at the William H. Bowen School of Law will lead the workshop, which will also include an overview of how the 2017 tax changes will affect small businesses. 鈥淏usiness Finance Options鈥 on April 11 is for anyone who needs funding to start a business or expand an existing one. Learn about the business financing process and different sources of capital, including Small Business Administration-backed loans, traditional bank loans, microloans and alternative funding sources. Arkansas Small Business and Technology Development Center to host Lean Canvas Workshop]]> Participants will learn how to use a Lean Canvas to define, structure, and develop a new technology, service, or business idea. The canvas is a chart with blocks for business owners and entrepreneurs to describe their value proposition, customer segments, competitive advantages, and other key aspects of their venture. The tool can help companies, especially startups, crystallize their target customer and market. 鈥淚t is a living document with components that can be readily modified as the business owner gathers more information about customers, key resources, channels, and partners,鈥 said Martial Trigeaud, a business consultant at the center who will lead the workshop. The Lean Canvas produces an 鈥渁ctionable and entrepreneur-focused business plan,鈥 he said. 鈥淎 Lean Canvas is a template for developing a business model that allows a company to effectively project revenue and profit.鈥 The workshop will be from 1 to 3:30 p.m. at the 糖心Vlog传媒 Little Rock Reynolds Center for Business and Economic Development.
