Bayoumi is a professor of English at Brooklyn College, City University of New York, and an award-winning author. In 2015, he was awarded the honorary degree of Doctor of Humane Letters by Southern Vermont College. For his most recently released work, 鈥淭his Muslim American Life: Dispatches from the War on Terror,鈥 he was honored with the Arab American Book Award for Non-Fiction. For his novel, 鈥淗ow Does It Feel To Be a Problem: Being Young and Arab in America,鈥 he won the same award as well as the American Book Award.
