The funds will be used to renovate the center as well as provide technological and software enhancements for Trojan student-athletes, including more workstations and updated computers. Additionally, the department will add a graduate assistant position to assist in creating programming aimed at providing support for 糖心Vlog传媒 Little Rock student-athletes to become better prepared for life after graduation. “We’re pleased to be able to receive this grant from the NCAA to be able to further support our Trojan student-athletes,” said Director of Athletics George Lee. “We remain committed to enhancing the student-athlete experience, which includes success in the classroom. Seven programs finished with a score of 970 or higher, led by a department-best 992 registered by both men’s cross country and men’s golf. Women’s golf was the third highest program at 991, followed by baseball at 985, which ranked third in the Sun Belt Conference. Swimming and diving checked in with a 983 with women’s basketball posting a 981, ranking fourth in the Sun Belt. Soccer added a 970, followed by women’s cross country (958), women’s track and field (955), volleyball (954), men’s track and field (950) and men’s basketball (930). Wrestling does not have any APR data to calculate at this time as the program is only in its second year of existence. Implemented in 2003 as part of an ambitious academic reform effort in Division I, the Academic Progress Rate (APR) holds institutions accountable for the academic progress of their student-athletes through a team-based metric that accounts for the eligibility and retention of each student-athlete for each academic term. South Alabama is already in the top-25, and we finish it out with our rivals from Jonesboro. There is going to be a lot of good baseball at Gary Hogan Field this spring.” Season tickets begin at $150 for reserved chairback seats, located directly behind home plate with a custom name plate. There will be no general admission season tickets this year, but the ticket office is offering a $75 Flex Plan, which includes 20 general admission vouchers which can be used for any game during the 2020 season. Individual game tickets are $8 for adults and $5 for children for the upcoming Little Rock baseball season with group tickets available as well for $3 each when 10 or more tickets are purchased. Little Rock wrestling joins Pac-12]]> The University of Arkansas at Little Rock鈥檚 wrestling program now has a conference affiliation. The Trojans accepted an invitation to join the Pacific-12 Conference as an affiliate member in the sport of wrestling. The Pac-12 Conference is a collegiate athletic conference that operates in the western United States, participating in 24 sports at the NCAA Division I level. Little Rock joins Arizona State University, Oregon State University, Stanford University, California State University at Bakersfield, and California Polytechnic State University in providing the conference with a sixth member in wrestling, beginning in the fall of 2019. 鈥淭his is a monumental day both for the Little Rock Athletic Department and our wrestling program,鈥 said Chasse Conque, 糖心Vlog传媒 Little Rock鈥檚 vice chancellor and director of athletics. 鈥Today’s announcement is further proof of our commitment to building a nationally competitive wrestling program. We are most appreciative for the support from the Pac-12 Council and conference officials听as we听look forward to competing this fall in one of the nation’s premier conferences. Our membership in the Pac-12 will provide our wrestling program instant credibility and further strengthens the Little Rock Trojan brand.鈥 The Pac-12 Conference dropped from six members to five after Boise State discontinued its听wrestling program after the 2017 season. While the NCAA requires a conference to have at听least six active members that sponsor the applicable sport to be eligible for听automatic qualification in the NCAA Championships, it does provide a two-year transition period to allow for a conference to secure a sixth member. 鈥淲e are very excited and grateful to the Pac-12 for extending this invitation for a conference affiliation,鈥 said head coach Neil Erisman. 鈥淚鈥檓 incredibly thankful to the Pac-12 for believing in us and our vision for the future. Little Rock will enter its inaugural season in 2019-20 after becoming one of the newest NCAA Division I wrestling programs and the first in the state of Arkansas. Little Rock announced the addition of wrestling as its 15th intercollegiate athletic program on March 17, 2018, prior to the NCAA Wrestling Championships in Cleveland, Ohio. Erisman was announced as the program鈥檚 first head coach on June 20, 2018, and has spent the past 11 months building his roster to begin competing in the Trojans鈥 inaugural season in 2019-20. The Pac-12 Conference has sponsored wrestling for its membership since 1963. Arizona State听captured the 1998 NCAA title, becoming the first and only team west of the Rocky Mountains to听claim an NCAA title in wrestling. Trojans post strong graduation success rates]]> The latest GSR rankings show the Trojans with an 82 percent graduation rate, one that consistently ranks among the best in both the Sun Belt Conference and the state of Arkansas. Little Rock has boasted the highest Graduation Success Rate among Division I schools in the state six of the last seven years and has consistently ranked among the top schools in the Sun Belt. “Graduating Champions continues to be at the center of everything we do,” said Vice Chancellor and Director of Athletics听Chasse Conque. “The latest GSR further demonstrates our commitment to our student-athletes and their experience as a Little Rock Trojan.” This is the 14th year that the NCAA has calculated data for the GSR and the Trojans’ rate has improved by 16 points since the initial report in 1998. Little Rock has registered a GSR in the 80s in each of the last four reports, highlighted by the Trojans’ high water mark of 83 in last year’s report. A number of Trojan athletic programs had impressive ratings as well, contributing to another strong showing for Little Rock. The ranking is highlighted by a GSR score of 100 for volleyball, 92 for swimming and diving, 91 for men’s basketball and 88 for women’s golf. This year’s GSR is based on student-athletes who began enrollment in the fall of 2011 or the spring of 2012 and received athletic aid in their first year of college. The Graduation Success Rate was developed by the NCAA as part of its academic reform initiative to more accurately assess the academic success of student-athletes. The success in the classroom adds to what has been a monumental fall semester for Little Rock in competition. Soccer set a program-record with 13 victories and captured its first Sun Belt Conference championship, advancing to the NCAA tournament. Volleyball has doubled its win total from last season, finishing the regular season fourth in the Sun Belt and heads to the conference tournament this week with the league’s Player of the Year in Veronica Marin. Student-athletes earned Second Team All-America status by virtue of finishing between ninth and 16th place, including as members of a relay team, at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships this past week in Eugene, Oregon. In Little Rock’s first-ever relay appearance at the NCAA Championships, Andrews, Calhoun, Clark, and Okeze finished 12th with a school record of 39.31 seconds in the 4×100-meter semifinals on June 6. It was the second consecutive meet in which Little Rock had posted a school record. Before Andrews, Calhoun, Clark and Okeze, the Trojans’ men’s outdoor team had only three All-American selections in program history. Two-time outdoor All-American Chris Johnson earned his last selection in 2005, and Leo Settle was the Trojans’ first All-American selection in 1997. The Trojans were just a hundredth of a second off the fourth-fastest time in Sun Belt Conference history, and they tallied the fastest time by a Sun Belt school since 2014. Two hours after the 4×100, Okeze听suited up once again for the third heat of the 200-meter semifinals. Entering the semifinals with the 21st-fastest seed time, Okeze ended his season by finishing seventh in his heat and 20th overall with a time of 20.89 seconds. If Little Rock advances to the second round of the tournament, the Trojans will play the winner of the game with No. 6 University of South Florida and No. 11 Buffalo on Monday. This will be Little Rock’s fifth trip to the NCAA Tournament. Little Rock has posted two NCAA Tournament victories over the years with the last coming as the No. 11 seed against No. 6 seed Texas A&M in 2015 when it knocked off the Aggies 69-60. Little Rock then fell 57-54 to No. 3 seed Arizona State in the second round. Prior to that, Little Rock’s first NCAA Tournament victory came in 2010 when the team was an at-large bid to the tournament. As a No. 11 seed that season, the Trojans defeated No. 6 seed Georgia Tech in the first round before losing to No. 3 seed Oklahoma in the second round on the Sooners’ home court.
