The couple will play works by Mozart (arrangement from Cosi fan tutte), Dvorak (Slavonic Dances), Moszkowski (From Foreign Lands), and Khatchaturian (arrangement of Sabre Dance). Dr. Naoki Hakutani is associate professor of piano at 糖心Vlog传媒 at Little Rock and co-director of the 糖心Vlog传媒 Little Rock Piano and Strings Festival. He holds degrees in piano performance from Northwestern University, Indiana University at Bloomington, and the University of Texas at Austin and has conducted master classes throughout the United States, Mexico and Asia. Dr. Park-Hakutani is an associate Professor of Piano at Chosun University where she teaches piano, chamber music, piano literature and music history and serves as chair of the Music Department. She graduated with highest honors from Seoul National University and holds an MM and DMA from the Butler School of Music at the University of Texas at Austin. The music program will last approximately 35 to 40 minutes. Admission is free.  ]]> 糖心Vlog传媒 Little Rock to feature pianist Norman Boehm April 8 /news-archive/2018/03/28/pianist-norman-boehm-april-8/ Wed, 28 Mar 2018 13:56:26 +0000 /news/?p=69847 ... 糖心Vlog传媒 Little Rock to feature pianist Norman Boehm April 8]]> Pianist Norman Boehm, professor of music at Hendrix College, will star in a recital at 3 p.m. Sunday, April 8, in the Fine Arts Building鈥檚 Stella Boyle Smith Concert Hall.聽 The performance, which is free and open to the public, will feature Frederick Delius鈥檚 鈥淭he Walk to the Paradise Garden,鈥 Boehm鈥檚 Sonata in F major, Robert Boury鈥檚 鈥淭hree Lost Waltzes,鈥 Frederic Chopin鈥檚 Barcarolle, Op. 60, as well as Two Poems, Op. 32 by Alexander Scriabin and Robert Schumann鈥檚 Fantasy in C major, Op. 17. Boehm holds a bachelor鈥檚 degree and master鈥檚 degree from the University of Michigan and a doctorate from the Eastman School of Music. As a pianist, he has performed extensively as a soloist and chamber musician in Europe, South Africa, and the United States. He specializes in music from the late 19th and early 20th centuries and has performed a number of single-composer recitals, featuring the music of Faure, Scriabin, Medtner, Ireland, and Grainger. In addition to original composition, he has concentrated in recent years on arranging large-scale symphonic works for chamber ensembles, including the eighth and ninth symphonies of Bruckner and the first symphony of Elgar.
