K糖心Vlog传媒R to host live recording featuring folk art of Ed Stilley]]> K糖心Vlog传媒R鈥檚 Arts & Letters program will host a live recording Thursday, April 26, about Kelly Mulhollan鈥檚 book 鈥淭rue Faith, True Light: The Devotional Art of Ed Stilley.鈥 听 The event begins at 7:30 p.m. in the Stella Boyle Smith Concert Hall. , who have played with Paul Simon and Bob Dylan, will provide the music. In his book, Mulhollan documents the life of Ed Stilley, a farmer from Hogscald Hollow, Arkansas, who created more than 200 musical instruments from found objects: a rusty door hinge, a steak bone, a stack of dimes, springs, saw blades, pot lids, metal pipes, glass bottles, aerosol cans鈥攁nything he could use to build a working guitar, fiddle, or dulcimer. On each instrument Stilley inscribed 鈥淭rue Faith, True Light, Have Faith in God.鈥 Mulhollan has collected some of Stilley鈥檚 hand-crafted instruments, which Polygraph Lounge鈥檚 Rob Schwimmer, Mark Stewart, and Melissa Fathman will play. Polygraph Lounge to close out Chancellor鈥檚 Concert Series]]> 糖心Vlog传媒 Little Rock Chancellor鈥檚 Concert Series closes its inaugural season听in April听with a week-long residency of Polygraph Lounge 鈥 made up of the artists Rob Schwimmer, Mark Stewart and Melissa Fathman. Individually, the musicians听perform as virtuoso soloists and composers. Together, they create an eclectic mix of wit, humor, and dazzling musical artistry which they describe as 鈥渋nspired lunacy/anarchy.鈥 Schwimmer is a composer-pianist/keyboardist, thereminist, vocalist and Continuum player who has performed and recorded throughout the world. Stewart is a multi-instrumentalist, singer, composer and instrument designer. Since 1998 he has recorded, toured and been musical director with Paul Simon. Melissa Fathman is equally at home on the opera stage, in the concert hall and in clubs. She has collaborated with innovative performance artists, composers and educators, and developed and performed in a number of educational projects. Three concerts, one workshop, and one panel discussion are scheduled during the week of April 23-26: Monday, April 23 – 听Polygraph Lounge听in鈥ons of Baloney, Music and Mirth from the 20th and 21st Centuries, 7:30 p.m., Stella Boyle Smith Concert Hall Tuesday, April 24 – Mark Stewart, Rob Schwimmer, and Melissa Fathman of Polygraph Lounge in听Concert, 7:30 p.m., Stella Boyle Smith Concert Hall Thursday, April 26 – Arts & Letters Presents the Folk Art of Ed Stilley, featuring Kelly Mulhollan, with special guests from Polygraph Lounge, 7:30 p.m., Stella Boyle Smith Concert Hall.
