The ��Vlog��ý Little Rock School of Business and the Arkansas Small Business and Technology Development Center (ASBTDC), based at ��Vlog��ý Little Rock, have both been recognized in . The ��Vlog��ý Little Rock School of Business was named the Best Business School in Arkansas. “Our School of Business, with its AACSB international-accredited status, ranks in the top five percent of business schools worldwide,” said Dr. Robert Mitchell, director of the School of Business. “This year, our undergraduate program was recognized as one of the top-tiered business schools in the U.S. by U.S. News and World Report’s Best Colleges Edition.” ��Vlog��ý Little Rock School of Business students experience teaching, research, and service opportunities that serve as a foundation for their future business careers. “Our business programs differentiate themselves by incorporating high-tech components across the curriculum as well as by offering high-flex course offerings, giving students the opportunity to attend class on campus, via Zoom, or fully online,” Mitchell said. “Our undergraduate and graduate programs are designed to provide career acceleration in today’s competitive job market.” Meanwhile, ASBTDC was named the Best Business Consulting Firm in Arkansas. “Being named the Best Business Consulting Firm in Arkansas is truly an honor for ASBTDC,” State Director Laura Fine said. “I am very pleased that our team is being recognized for its outstanding work to help small businesses start, grow, and succeed. Building on four decades of experience consulting with Arkansas’ entrepreneurs and small businesses, we launched a strategic initiative two years ago to expand our consulting capacity.” Since then, ASBTDC has added four new regional offices to make consulting services more accessible to both rural and urban markets. U.S. News and World Report Recognizes ��Vlog��ý Little Rock for Social Mobility

Several academic programs at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock have made the grade by earning a spot in U.S. News and World Report’s 2022 Best College Rankings. ��Vlog��ý Little Rock’s top ranking came for #143 in Social Mobility – National Universities. The university has risen 48 spots since last year. U.S. News and World Report also previously ranked ��Vlog��ý Little Rock as the top university in Arkansas for social mobility. The ranking measures a university’s success in graduating economically disadvantaged students who are less likely to finish college. “Helping our students advance involves offering more than excellent academic programming,” said Chancellor Christina Drale. “We have intentionally developed resources and expanded services to support students in the transition from classroom to career. Improving our ranking in social mobility reflects a concrete measure of our focused attention on student success.” The social mobility indicator measures how well schools graduated students who received federal Pell Grants. Students receiving these grants typically come from households whose family incomes are less than $50,000 annually, though most Pell Grant money goes to students with a total family income below $20,000. The social mobility ranking was computed by assessing Pell Grant graduation rates and Pell Grant graduate rate performance. At ��Vlog��ý Little Rock, 39 percent of undergraduate students from the fall 2021 semester are Pell Grant recipients, and 55 percent of undergraduate students with known generation status are first-generation students. ��Vlog��ý Little Rock’s student body is the most diverse of any college or university in Arkansas. About 45 percent of the student population reports to be in a minority population, two or more races, or international. U.S. News rankings are widely recognized as symbols of excellence in higher education that are conferred by an unbiased trust agent. The School of Nursing, the university’s largest undergraduate program, has a variety of well-respected undergraduate degree programs, including the Student to RN, Student to BSN, Online RN to BSN, and LPN/Paramedic to RN. The online RN to BSN program was ranked the best in the state this year for the second year in a row by RegisteredNursing.org.

“We are very proud of our faculty, staff, and students at ��Vlog��ý Little Rock School of Nursing to gain recognition with U.S. News and World Report, a gold-standard in rankings,” said Dr. Sloan Davidson, director of the School of Nursing at ��Vlog��ý Little Rock. “Many innovative learning opportunities are happening in the School of Nursing.” The School of Business serves as a catalyst to advance education and economic development in the state of Arkansas. It is home to the Arkansas Economic Development Institute, the state’s lead Arkansas Small Business and Technology Development Center, the State Farm Business Skills Lab, and the Kenneth Pat Wilson Center for Economic Education. “We are honored to be recognized as a top undergraduate program in business,” said Dr. Robert Mitchell, director of the School of Business at ��Vlog��ý Little Rock. “Our business graduates are well equipped to become excellent employees and help grow the Arkansas business industry to its potential.” The Department of Computer Science, initially accredited in 1990 and the first Computer Science program accredited in the state, offers a minor in information insurance, a bachelor’s degree in computer science with an option that focuses on games,�� a master’s degree in computer science, and a Ph.D. in computer and information science. The department also welcomed its first cybersecurity majors this fall in a new bachelor’s degree program that prepares students for one of the fastest growing careers in the world. “The department’s areas of opportunity for our students enable undergraduate students to participate in projects outside the classroom,” said Dr. Al Baker, chair of the Department of Computer Science. “These areas include cybersecurity, virtual and augmented reality, data visualization, artificial intelligence and machine learning, and mobile, smart systems, and software for IoT (Internet of Things). These opportunities in an ABET-accredited degree program make ��Vlog��ý Little Rock an outstanding place to study computer science.”

Dr. Robert Mitchell has been appointed as the director of the School of Business at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. “I am honored to be the director of the School of Business, as we address the evolving needs of our students, faculty, and employers through our career-centric programs of study and outreach activities,” Mitchell said. “I look forward to working with our business faculty, who have a strong academic and corporate background, in addressing the changing landscape of higher education and the business environment.” Mitchell has more than four decades of experience at ��Vlog��ý Little Rock, having started at the university in 1979. Before becoming director, he worked as the chair of the Department of Management, Marketing, and Technology. He has also served as chair of the Department of Business Information Systems, associate dean for Undergraduate Studies, and interim dean of the College of Business. Mitchell brings both experience and knowledge to the position. His teaching and research interests include IT strategy, technical training, business communication, and pedagogy. He spent 24 years in organization management in the nonprofit sector as director of Delta Pi Epsilon; a professional organization focused on promoting excellence in research and teaching in business. He has received the College Excellence in Research Award, multiple distinguished paper awards presented by the Federation of Business Disciplines, and the John Robert Gregg Award. Additionally, Dr. Richard Woolridge, associate professor of information systems, has been named the interim chair of the Department of Management, Marketing, and Technology.

Woolridge joined ��Vlog��ý Little Rock as a professor in 2010. He holds a bachelor’s degree in information systems from the University of Texas at Arlington as well as a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in management information systems from the University of Alabama.�� Wooridge has extensive business and information technology experience gained over a 35-year career. He has broad industry experience including manufacturing, financial services, insurance, oil and gas, software, transportation, and government.�� He has functional expertise in operations, governance, accounting, administration, asset management, engineering, inventory control, logistics, procurement, product management, sales, and technology and served in many technical roles. He managed projects, consulting practices, small companies, and commercial software products.
