Stover, who graduated magna cum laude from 糖心Vlog传媒 Little Rock with a Bachelor of Health Science degree, will serve as the chief financial officer and vice president of financial affairs at CARTI. Stover also holds an undergraduate certificate in accounting from 糖心Vlog传媒 Little Rock and was named the inaugural Academic All-American while playing for the Trojans baseball team. He later earned a Master of Health Services Administration degree at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. Stover most recently served as associate vice chancellor for finance and treasurer at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. In 2017, Edyn was diagnosed with a rare, degenerative neuromuscular disease called CAPOS Syndrome. “We’ll do everything we can to include Edyn in our team activities,” Little Rock swimming and diving head coach聽聽said. “We’ll do specific activities with her, and it’s going to be huge for her to cheer us on at practice and our swim meets.鈥 Edyn has been an inspiration to the team, Burgess said. 鈥淣o matter how tough life gets, it’s amazing when she comes onto the pool deck,鈥 Burgess said. 鈥淭he few times that she has come with us, it’s been smiles and excitement, and you can see it in her. It’s fun to watch the girls want to get to know her and try to talk to her. It’s wonderful to see these girls get out of their comfort zone and everyday college life to connect with someone like Edyn Grace.” Team IMPACT children are drafted onto college athletic teams, close to where they live, and to the greatest extent possible, become a member of the team from signing day to graduation. “It means a lot to a little girl to have some female role models to love on her and encourage her when she’s down,” Edyn’s mother Michelle Walterhouse said. “It’s great seeing how excited she gets to spend time with other ladies.” Team IMPACT is a national nonprofit headquartered in Boston that connects children facing serious or chronic illnesses with college athletic teams, forming life-long bonds, and life-changing outcomes. Since 2011, Team IMPACT has matched more than 1,200 children with more than 450 colleges and universities in 46 states, reaching over 35,000 participating student-athletes. The child joins the athletic team and the student-athletes join the child’s support team. Throughout the journey, the child gains strength, camaraderie, and support while the student-athletes experience lessons of聽courage, resiliency, and perspective they can’t learn in a classroom. “We’re thankful for the opportunity that Team IMPACT provides and that Little Rock swimming and diving is willing to partner with us and invite her to be a part of the team,” Edyn’s father Jonathan Walterhouse said. “We know she likes to cheer people up, and she’s excited to be part of a great team like this. Two Trojans drafted by Cardinals]]> 聽and pitcher ,聽were selected by the St. Louis Cardinals in the 2017 Major League Baseball Draft.聽 Knight was taken with the 964th overall pick in the 32nd round, and Malcom was the 1,024th overall pick in the 34th round. In 2017, Knight had the second-highest batting average on the team at .310 and added聽54 hits, 27 runs, 23 RBIs, and 12 doubles. He played in 51 games and started in 44. Of the 44 starts, Knight was the DH in 29 games and catcher in 15. He ended the season with a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage. As Little Rock’s only four-year player, Malcom saved his best season for 2017 as he broke the program’s single-season record for strikeouts with 109. He finished the year with a 3.46 ERA and a 4-5 record in 96.1 innings on the mound. Malcom’s strikeout-to-walk ratio of 5.74 led the Sun Belt and ranked 25th nationally. This is the fifth consecutive year that at least one Little Rock player has been drafted. It’s also the first time since 2009聽that two Trojans have been selected in the same draft. The last time two Trojans were taken by the same team in the same draft was in 2001 as Derin McMains and Miguel Miranda were selected by the San Francisco Giants. Knight and Malcom聽are the first Trojans to be drafted by St. Louis since pitcher Scott Madden in 1983. Little Rock signee Marcus Ragan was drafted by the Boston Red Sox in the 15th round with the 461st overall pick. Ragan is a junior college transfer from East Mississippi Junior College and hit a club-high .395 with 70 hits, 58 runs, 13 doubles, eight triples, six home runs, 34 RBIs, and 25 RBIs last season.
