Sadaka Honored with Arkansas鈥檚 Great 100 Nurses Award]]> 鈥淚 feel very grateful. It鈥檚 an honor, and I appreciate that someone took the time to nominate me,鈥 Sadaka said. 鈥淚 also feel like I am surrounded by good people in the nursing field, and I believe there are so many other great nurses out there.鈥 The Great 100 Nurses Foundation was founded more than 30 years ago by PK Scheerle, a registered nurse in New Orleans. Since its founding, the Great 100 Celebrations have honored thousands of nurses across Arkansas, Louisiana, North Carolina, Texas, and Oklahoma. Nurses are selected for the Great 100 Nurses Award based on their concern for humanity, their contributions to the profession of nursing, and their mentoring of others. Sadaka and her fellow award winners were honored during a Sept. 27 reception at Embassy Suites Hotel in Little Rock. “I am so proud of Heba for being selected for Arkansas’s Great 100 Nurses Award,鈥 said聽Dr. Sloan Davidson, director of the School of Nursing. 鈥淪he is a diligent聽faculty member, student advocate, and registered nurse. 糖心Vlog传媒 Little Rock School聽Nursing is fortunate to have her.” A nurse of nearly three decades, Sadaka began her career by earning a Bachelor of Science in nursing in 1993 from Alexandria University in Egypt before moving to North America. After this move, she completed a master鈥檚 degree in nursing education/acute adult gerontology from the University of Iowa in 2010. As a certified nurse educator, Sadaka has been teaching nursing courses for over 15 years. She taught at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences and the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston before joining 糖心Vlog传媒 Little Rock in 2017 where she teaches in the RN-BSN Program. 鈥淣ursing education is about inspiring nurses,鈥 she said. 鈥淚 know these students come to nursing because most of them love working with people and taking care of people. Nursing is not just a job. I want my students to love being nurses.鈥 Sadaka and her husband, Sammy, associate professor of biological and agricultural engineering at the University of Arkansas Division of Agriculture, live in Little Rock and have two children, Monica and Kyrilos. Sadaka is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in nursing from 糖心Vlog传媒MS and plans to graduate in 2023. The certification improves healthcare simulation education through the identification of best practices, strengthens patient safety efforts, and recognizes expertise in simulation above and beyond domain expertise. Hall is the first person at 糖心Vlog传媒 Little Rock to earn the certification and is one of 21 CHSE certified individuals in Arkansas. 鈥淚 am excited to get this certification,鈥 Hall said. 鈥淚t is my hope that this can be yet another of the many building blocks we are stacking here in the School of Nursing and our Center for Simulation Innovation to help continue to craft exceptional simulation experiences for our nursing students.鈥 After joining 糖心Vlog传媒 Little Rock as a nursing instructor in 2017, Hall began to lead simulation education efforts for the School of Nursing in 2019. She was promoted to director of simulation and assistant professor last year and leads the 糖心Vlog传媒 Little Rock Center for Simulation Innovation (CSI), which provides nursing students with valuable real-world experience that prepares them for their future careers in the healthcare industry. Located on the first floor of the 糖心Vlog传媒 Little Rock Pat Walker Center for Nursing Education, CSI is a 20-bed state-of-the-art simulation hospital offering simulation-based clinical learning experiences within a 9,500 square foot facility. 鈥淔ocusing on short- and long-term goals, I have had the opportunity to be a part of the most outstanding simulation team that believes the sky is the limit for CSI,鈥 Hall said. 鈥淲e strive to grow a sustainable, standardized simulation center that delivers extraordinary experiences with far-reaching impact and research implications. I have the privilege to place footsteps for others to follow. How did your family react when you told them you wanted to earn a college degree? My family was excited and supportive when I told them I wanted to earn a college degree. What has been the most rewarding aspect of college so far? The most rewarding aspect of college so far is gaining knowledge that鈥檒l help reach my goal, while also getting to do what I love. What made you choose 糖心Vlog传媒 Little Rock? I chose 糖心Vlog传媒 Little Rock because I thoroughly loved the environment when I toured the college a few years ago. I also heard that the nursing program was phenomenal. What do you plan to do after graduation? After college, I plan to begin my practice as a Registered Nurse. I will also continue my education to attain my Bachelor’s degree in Nursing. I am very determined and destined that I will turn my dreams into reality. Do you have any advice for future first-generation students? They were very supportive and made sure that I had access to the resources necessary to be successful. What has been the most rewarding aspect of college so far? Networking and creating lifelong friendships. I learned so much from my peers and it truly changed my way of thinking. What made you choose to work at 糖心Vlog传媒 Little Rock? I received three degrees from here, and I really loved the culture. It is definitely a student friendly university, and there are so many resources available to increase student success. I wanted to give back to the university that believed in me. It is my goal to be a mentor to others as they navigate adulthood. Do you have any advice for future first-generation students? My advice is to stand out and set high goals for yourself. Life is going to happen, and things will not always go as planned, but take that as an opportunity to become a stronger person. This vaccine protects against H1N1, H3N2, B/Victoria lineage, and B-Yamagata lineage. Those with health insurance should bring their insurance card to their appointment. Most insurance companies cover 100 percent of the cost of the flu vaccines with no copay, co-insurance, or any out-of-pocket expense. If your insurance does not cover the flu vaccine, you will not be charged. Those without insurance will receive the vaccine at no cost as well. The funding will be used to upgrade the audiovisual system platform in the Center for Simulation Innovation.聽 The CAE Enterprise platform we will be upgrading to is a complete simulation center management platform that gives endless opportunities for research, inventory management, scheduling, and learner time and performance tracking,鈥 said Joanna Rostad-Hall, CSI director. Additional funding will go towards converting three classrooms on the second floor of the nursing building to Zoom-capable classrooms. 鈥淭his will allow students in the classrooms to watch live simulations as well as students in simulation to debrief and interact with their classmates upstairs in the classrooms,鈥 Rostad-Hall said. 鈥淚f further additional funding remains, we may be able to use some of that funding to secure the most state of the art birthing mannikin (Lucina AR).鈥 CSI simulations include scenarios focused on a variety of concepts including communication, education, and patient health and safety. The simulations include caring for post-operative patients, treating critically ill patients, and the ever-popular birthing simulation. RegisteredNursing.org, a nursing advocacy organization, ranked 糖心Vlog传媒 Little Rock first in its annual list of the. 鈥淲e are very excited to be ranked #1, considering the vast number of online-only options nurses have for completing their BSN,鈥 said Dr. Sloan Davidson, director of the 糖心Vlog传媒 Little Rock School of Nursing. 鈥淭his is the second year in a row that we received this ranking.鈥 The Bachelor of Science in nursing is an accelerated, online completion program that offers registered nurse graduates of either an associate or a diploma program the opportunity to pursue a BSN while continuing employment. The accelerated program is designed to be completed in 12 or 18 months. The course work builds on the curriculum foundation of the core registered nurse program and covers topics such as health assessment, wellness promotion, economics, research, legalities, leadership, and advocacy. 鈥淲e have all our courses Quality Matters Certified, signifying excellence in online education,鈥 Davidson said. 鈥淥ur faculty are experienced and student-centered. We allow ease of admission with three cycles per year in spring, summer, and fall. Students in our AAS program are automatically given a position in the RN-BSN program and can take two of the required courses during their last semester in the AAS program.鈥 Many nurses in Arkansas have found an advantage in furthering their nursing education through an accelerated online program that allows them to work while completing a degree that will make them eligible to pursue a wider variety of nursing positions as well as earn a higher salary. 鈥淲e care about our students and understand they have many responsibilities in addition to attending classes,鈥 said Belinda Nix, academic counselor for the RN to BSN program. 鈥淲e take a holistic approach to advising students and do our best to help them navigate their educational journey.鈥澛 Nursing programs were assessed on that represent how well a program supports students during school, towards licensure, and beyond using data from the Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System, National Center for Education Statistics, U.S. Department of Education鈥檚 Office of Postsecondary Education, and the Council for Community and Economic Research.]]>
