The lunch will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 2, in Ledbetter Hall at the Donaghey Student Center (DSC) and will celebrate this year鈥檚 Women鈥檚 History Month theme: “Working to Form a More Perfect Union: Honoring Women in Public Service and Government.” Panel members include 糖心Vlog传媒LR Executive Vice Chancellor and Provost Dr. Zulma Toro, Arkansas State Sen. Joyce Elliott, Political Analyst Jessica Sabin, and Assistant City Attorney for North Little Rock and Sherwood Public Defender Tjuana Byrd. The panel will be moderated by Dr. Sara Beth Estes, associate dean in the College of Social Sciences and Communication.

Cherine Badawi, an accomplished experiential educator and instructional designer, will serve as the keynote speaker at the Women鈥檚 History Month luncheon on March 2.

The event鈥檚 keynote speaker is, an accomplished experiential educator and instructional designer who has worked globally to bring people together and empower them to create a more socially just, thriving, and peaceful world. She will present a lecture about women’s leadership and empowerment. The event is free to members of the 糖心Vlog传媒LR community. Trojan Tip-Off starts first week of classes]]> part of Trojan Daze, a weeklong schedule to orient students to campus and build relationships. Hosted by the Office of Campus Life, the 糖心Vlog传媒LR Athletic Department, and the Student Government Association, this event will have music, free food and T-shirts, and plenty of opportunities to meet fellow students, faculty, and staff. Starting at 4 p.m., attendees may eat and socialize at the Student Organization Fair. A pep rally will be held during the event, and everyone is encouraged to wear their Trojan gear to help celebrate the upcoming academic year. The night will end with a聽鈥Sync or Sink鈥 competition. Sync or Sink is a lip sync battle with three-to-eight person teams performing one-minute routines. Winners will be decided by a panel of judges. He is the composer of the highly acclaimed, 鈥淥ne Shining Moment,鈥 the theme song for the NCAA Basketball Championships. He has also lent his musical talents for other sporting events including the Olympics, the U.S. Open, and the PGA Championship. Barrett recently won a silver medal at the New York Film festival for the hip-hop song 鈥淒on鈥檛 Cross that Line鈥 and an Emmy for his score of a PBS documentary about writer C.S. Lewis. He will sing some of his original works during the annual showcase. Tip off is at 7 p.m. The men’s basketball team scored its second victory in eight days after upsetting Arkansas State University on March 1 with a score of 74-67. March 8 marks the final game of the basketball season, and students always get in free. Also during the homecoming game, one student organization will receive outstanding spirit recognition based on participation and level of school pride exhibited at homecoming week events. The winning organization will receive the Homecoming Spirit Cup and $300. Donor stations will be set up in the Donaghey Student Center and the Student Services Center, according to Non-Traditional Student Programs Coordinator Cynda Alexander. In the DSC, locations will be in the Office of Campus Life, 糖心Vlog传媒LR Bookstore, Diamond Cafe, and Starbucks. In the SSC, the donor stations will be in the main lobby of the second floor and in the foyer of the cashier鈥檚 office. Toys should be new and unwrapped. Hispanic Heritage The anniversary of the independence of the Latin American countries of Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras and Nicaragua is celebrated Sept. 15. In addition, Mexico and Chile celebrate their independence on Sept. 16 and Sept. 18, respectively. Also, Columbus Day, or Dia de la Raza, Oct. 12, is also celebrated.
