The partnership is part of both the university鈥檚 and orchestra鈥檚 mission to educate, enrich, inspire and advance the state of Arkansas. 鈥淚t is truly an honor to partner with the University of Arkansas Little Rock to introduce a new generation of students and future leaders to the arts in our great state,鈥 said Arkansas Symphony Orchestra CEO Christina Littlejohn. 鈥淲e look forward to sharing the power of music with these new 糖心Vlog传媒 Little Rock freshmen as well as our entire community.鈥 As part of the partnership, all 糖心Vlog传媒 Little Rock students, faculty and staff will have the opportunity to purchase any regular ASO season ticket by phone or online at a significantly discounted rate of $10 per ticket. We are fortunate that the Arkansas Symphony, a regional treasure, is located in our hometown.” The Arkansas Symphony Orchestra, under the leadership of Music Director Philip Mann, performs more than 60 concerts each season, including Masterworks and Pops Concerts. Scheduled concerts for the 2018鈥2019 season include the featuring David Fung, composed by the legendary John Williams, with guest conductor Sara Ioannides and featuring ASO Concertmaster Kiril Laskarov. Festivities will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Donaghey Student Center mall area. Participants will be able to purchase various homemade items from vendors, including Crooked House Herbals, D & D Designs, Green Corner Store, Pup Eats Dog Treats, and Little Brick Oven. Along with external vendors will be 糖心Vlog传媒 Little Rock organizations, such as the Garden Alliance Club, Geology Club, McNair Scholars, and the Sustainability Committee. Food trucks will be located outside of the Donaghey Student Center near the University Parking Deck. This year Big Dawg BBQ, Diane鈥檚 Delicious Dogs, Katmandu Momo, and Shambala Mobile Vegan Kitchen will be on site 聽聽 There will also be a shredding truck in the parking lot located on the east side of the library. Employee Wellness Program to offer diabetes prevention course]]> The University of Arkansas Little Rock Employee Wellness Program will kick-start its Diabetes Prevention program this spring for university employees who are at high risk of developing diabetes. 鈥淒iabetes is a very serious and dangerous disease that can cause heart attacks, stroke, blindness, kidney failure, or loss of feet or legs,鈥 said Karl Lenser, coordinator of the Employee Wellness Program. 鈥淩esearch shows that individuals who are considered prediabetic can delay or even prevent the onset of Type 2 diabetes through lifestyle modifications, which will be highlighted in this class.鈥 Program courses begin Friday, Feb. 2 at noon in the Donaghey Student Center Leadership Lounge. Debie Head, certified diabetes educator, nutrition expert, registered dietician, and lifestyle coach from the University of Arkansas Cooperative Extension Office, will lead the sessions. Throughout the course of the program, 糖心Vlog传媒 Little Rock employees can look forward to developing healthy lifestyle habits that result in losing weight, eating healthier, and increasing physical activity. 鈥淧articipants who join the diabetes prevention program will take a major step in reducing their risk for diabetes, hypertension and heart disease,鈥 Lenser said. 鈥淐lass participants will also receive support and encouragement that are powerful agents when making a lifestyle change.鈥 To qualify for the course, individuals must be over the age of 18, have a body mass index of at least 24, (if Asian, 22) and a fasting glucose reading of 100 to 125 milligrams per deciliter, an A1C reading of 5.7 to 6.4, a plasma glucose reading between 140 and 199, or a past history of gestational diabetes. If the aforementioned requirements are not met, interested participants must score a nine or higher on the Center for Disease Control criteria checklist that can be found in the Employee Wellness Office.
