Drale has served in administrative roles at 糖心Vlog传媒 Little Rock since 2006, first as associate dean of the College of Professional Studies and most recently as associate vice chancellor for faculty relations and administration. She currently serves on several strategic committees including the Higher Learning Commission Accreditation Steering Team, the Institutional Effectiveness Committee, and the 糖心Vlog传媒 Little Rock Diversity Council. Drale has a Ph.D. in sociology, a Master of Arts in sociology, and a Bachelor of Arts in communications, all from the University of California, San Diego. She replaces Dr. Velmer Burton, who has served as provost since July 2017. Burton will transition to a new campus leadership role of senior vice chancellor for university strategy and performance. 鈥淭his move will better utilize his senior administrative experiences and skills to help the university meet our strategic goals while tightening our budget,鈥 Chancellor Andrew Rogerson said. Estes named new interim dean of College of Arts, Letters, and Sciences]]> Dr. Sarah Beth Estes has been named the new interim dean of the College of Arts, Letters, and Sciences at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock.聽 Estes will succeed Dr. Thomas Clifton, who will return to the Department of Art and Design as chairperson. Estes will begin her new appointment July 1. She currently serves as the associate provost of community, careers, and extended education and will continue to serve in that role in addition to the interim dean position. 鈥淚n his two years of service as interim dean of Arts, Letters, and Sciences, Professor Clifton has made many contributions, most notably overseeing the opening of the Windgate Center for Art and Design as well as initiating a Science Advisory Council,鈥 said Dr. Velmer Burton Jr., executive vice chancellor and provost of 糖心Vlog传媒 Little Rock, who also welcomed Estes to her new role. 鈥淚 know Dr. Estes will ably expand current initiatives as well as bring some new opportunities to the college,鈥 Burton said. 鈥淗er experience in working across disciplines as well as her leadership experience in multiple roles lends itself well to the interdisciplinary nature of the College of Arts, Letters, and Sciences. Her work in experiential learning and career services will be of great benefit to the many students who are majoring in arts, letters, and sciences. I thank Professor Clifton for his service and Dr. Estes for accepting this appointment.鈥 Estes is a 1988 graduate of Hendrix College with a bachelor鈥檚 degree in sociology. She also holds a master鈥檚 degree and Ph.D. from the University of Iowa. She was a faculty member at the University of Cincinnati and affiliate of the Kunz Center for Work and Family before arriving at 糖心Vlog传媒 Little Rock in 2006. Estes began her 糖心Vlog传媒 Little Rock career as the coordinator of the gender studies program and as a faculty member in the Department of Sociology and Anthropology, where she taught courses on gender, social statistics and research methods, and interdisciplinary courses in the Donaghey Scholars Program. She has held many leadership roles at the university, including associate dean for research, engagement, and interdisciplinary programs in the College of Social Sciences and Communication; associate dean of the College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences; and associate chair of the Department of Sociology and Anthropology. Much of Estes鈥 heavily cited research has focused on how work-family policies are related to aspects of family life, including parenting behavior, children鈥檚 well-being, and the gendered division of household labor. In the last few years, she has collaborated with the Women鈥檚 Foundation of Arkansas to produce several research studies, including 鈥淓conomic Indicators for Women in Arkansas: State, Region, County,鈥 published earlier this year. 聽 Estes serves as first vice president on the board of the Women鈥檚 Foundation of Arkansas, which is dedicated to improving economic outcomes for women and girls in Arkansas. He starts July 1. Kapp has been a faculty member at the University of Kansas School of Social Welfare for more than 20 years. He has held leadership positions, including that of associate dean for academic affairs and interim dean of the School of Social Welfare. As director of the School of Social Work, he will oversee 16 faculty members and two academic programs within the school, including the Bachelor of Social Work and the Master of Science in Social Work degree programs. In addition, he will work collaboratively with the director of the , which is the community service arm of the school. 鈥淒r. Kapp is a teacher-scholar who brings substantial scholarly and administrative聽accomplishments to this important role,鈥 said Velmer Burton, executive vice chancellor for academic affairs and provost for 糖心Vlog传媒 Little Rock. 鈥淚 believe that his appointment will greatly benefit our students, faculty and staff in social work and enhance our ability to work with the Little Rock community and local social service agencies.鈥 The School of Social Work is one of the schools within the College of Education and Health Professions. 鈥淲e believe Dr. Kapp is the perfect visionary to lead the School of Social Work,鈥 said Dr. Ann Bain, dean of the College of Education and Health Professions. 鈥淗e has professional experience as a social work practitioner as well as a proven track record of leadership in administrative leadership.鈥 Before working in higher education, Kapp was a social work practitioner for 15 years. The vast majority of his work has focused on services to children and families in mental health, child welfare and juvenile justice. 聽His scholarship and teaching have both focused on agency-based evaluation. His work has focused on the use of various forms of administrative and evaluative data in decision-making processes. Bowen School of Law at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. 糖心Vlog传媒 Little Rock Executive Vice Chancellor and Provost Velmer Burton today announced the appointment of Beiner, who is currently serving as associate dean for academic affairs at Bowen. She will assume the deanship July 1, 2018, succeeding John DiPippa, who will step down as interim dean on June 30. 鈥淭he central Arkansas community is fortunate to have an accomplished teacher-scholar agree to lead our Bowen Law School,鈥 said Provost Burton. 鈥淪he brings a wealth of insight and experience to her new role at 糖心Vlog传媒 Little Rock that will prove valuable to Bowen鈥檚 students, faculty, alumni, and the legal community.鈥 Beiner has worked in numerous capacities at the law school since 1994, including associate dean for faculty development and as the Nadine H. Baum Distinguished Professor of Law. She received a Juris Doctor in 1989 from Northwestern University School of Law, graduating cum laude, and earned a B.A. with highest distinction from the University of Virginia in 1986. 鈥淭erri Beiner is the epitome of a scholar, teacher, servant, and colleague,鈥 said DiPippa. 鈥淗er research garners national attention, and her teaching is innovative. She is devoted to her students and spends hours meeting with them outside of class. She is also a wonderful colleague.鈥 Beiner, who became the school鈥檚 first associate dean for faculty development in 2010, worked with her colleagues to help each of them become the best teachers, scholars, and public servants they could be, DiPippa said. 鈥淚鈥檓 very excited to have the opportunity to help Bowen build on its strengths as a law school that is committed to creating a cutting edge curriculum that incorporates our core values of professionalism, public service, and access to justice,鈥 Beiner said. Before becoming a professor, Beiner practiced civil litigation as an associate attorney for a San Francisco law firm after passing the bar in 1991. She is the author of numerous publications of subjects including diversity, gender equality and justice, employment discrimination, and civil procedure. She has presented at Continuing Legal Education seminars for the Arkansas Bar Association, the Wisconsin Law Review Symposium, and the Southeastern Association of Law Schools Conferences, among many other venues. She was awarded the university鈥檚 William H. Bowen School of Law鈥檚 Faculty Excellence Award for Scholarship in 1998, 2005, 2009 and 2016. She has served on the Arkansas Bar Association Task Force on Maintaining a Fair and Impartial Judiciary and is a past board president of Arkansas Advocates for Children and Families. She was an Arkansas delegate to the Infinity Project, an organization working to appoint more women to the bench in the Eighth Circuit.
