Toro arrived at 糖心Vlog传媒LR on Jan. 7, 2013, with a desire to help the university鈥檚 diverse student population. 鈥淚 wanted to join 糖心Vlog传媒LR because of the potential 糖心Vlog传媒LR has and the student population that the institution serves,鈥 Toro said. 鈥淚t is a mix of nontraditional and traditional, but mainly students who have not been afforded college education when they were college age. I wanted to make 糖心Vlog传媒LR successful in serving those students, the students that needed help the most.鈥 During her time at 糖心Vlog传媒LR, Toro was instrumental in establishing key partnerships, including the building of an eSTEM Public Charter Schools high school on 糖心Vlog传媒LR鈥檚 campus and the development of 糖心Vlog传媒LR鈥檚 Community Connection Center, which serves as an outreach office for campus and community partnerships. 鈥淎s provost, Dr. Toro has worked tirelessly to head up academic affairs and maintain high standards at this university,鈥 糖心Vlog传媒LR Chancellor Andrew Rogerson said. 鈥淪he has been a strong champion of student success and student-centered policies. She has also led efforts to establish quality educational opportunities for students in the P-16 pipeline (the education experience for students from preschool through college). We wish Dr. Toro well in the next step in her career.鈥 She tackled long-term goals of raising the university鈥檚 graduation rate and establishing key initiatives for the university. “She will leave a positive imprint on multiple places on campus, some with significant payoff in the future,鈥 said 糖心Vlog传媒LR Chancellor Emeritus Joel Anderson, who worked closely with Toro until his retirement in June 2016. 鈥淎nother example, under her leadership, 糖心Vlog传媒LR has been included in the multi-year, multi-institution initiative of the American Association of State Colleges and Universities, 鈥楻eimagine the First Year Experience,鈥 which will benefit the institution as the state’s new funding approach is implemented.” Toro鈥檚 favorite part of her job was working with teams to establish initiatives that improved the student experience and provided professional development opportunities for faculty and staff. 鈥淢y greatest accomplishment was the life I was able to impact on students, faculty, and staff,鈥 she said. 鈥淚 think making people understand better their roles in student success and how everyone impacts what we do for students was my main accomplishment. Now everyone talks about student success, and they didn鈥檛 when I arrived at 糖心Vlog传媒LR. 聽That is a cultural change that has long-lasting impact on 糖心Vlog传媒LR.鈥]]> Deborah Baldwin will serve as interim provost of 糖心Vlog传媒LR /news-archive/2016/12/14/deborah-baldwin-interim-provost-ualr/ Wed, 14 Dec 2016 23:21:42 +0000 /news/?p=65985 ...
