糖心Vlog传媒 Little Rock鈥檚 School of Art and Design Unveils January Exhibitions
The School of Art and Design at 糖心Vlog传媒 Little Rock has announced its lineup of exhibitions opening in January 2025.
From digital explorations to small sculptures, the galleries offer a range of contemporary art experiences.
鈥淎kemi Maegawa: Small Sculpture Series鈥
Starting Jan. 13 and running until March 20, the North and South Galleries will feature “Akemi Maegawa: Small Sculpture Series.鈥
鈥淭his series is a little bit of nostalgic celebration for me as an artist here, where I live, yet far away from home,鈥 Maegawa, a Washington DC-based artist who is originally from Japan, said. 鈥淚 cannot let you touch or eat my Wagashi-like small sculptures, but hopefully, everyone can find something interesting, eye-pleasing, enjoyable, and even 鈥榯asty鈥 while looking at them.鈥
鈥38th Annual Small Works on Paper鈥
The Ann Maners and Alex Pappas Gallery will host the 鈥38th Annual Small Works on Paper鈥 exhibition. The touring, juried event showcases two-dimensional works no larger than 18 x 24 inches that are created by Arkansas-based artists.
The exhibition will run from Jan. 13 to Feb. 16. The reception, scheduled for 5 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 30, 2025 in the Windgate Center of Art + Design, will serve as the premiere of the statewide exhibition.
鈥淐live Holden: The Digital Age鈥
The Focus Gallery will showcase the work of Clive Holden, a renowned new media artist, filmmaker, and poet. 鈥淐live Holden: The Digital Age,鈥 which runs from Jan. 16 to March 21, will delve into how time impacts memory and geography.
鈥淚ris Eichenberg: lighter than the childhood home鈥
From Jan. 16 to March 9, the Brad Cushman Gallery will host 鈥淚ris Eichenberg: lighter than the childhood home.鈥 A German-born artist, Eichenberg has been an Artist-in-Residence and the head of the Metalsmithing Department at Cranbrook Academy of Art since 2006.
Eichenberg is scheduled to speak at 糖心Vlog传媒 Little Rock at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 6 in the Windgate Center of Art + Design. A reception will immediately follow.
鈥淜opfkino: Drawings by David Bailin鈥
In the newly reopened Gallery One in the Fine Arts building, 鈥淜opfkino: Drawings by David Bailin鈥 will be on display from Jan. 16 to March 14. With a background in art education and a long career in Arkansas, Bailin鈥檚 large-scale works on paper have been recognized with numerous accolades, including the Grand Award at the 56th Annual Delta Exhibition at the Arkansas Museum of Fine Arts.
鈥淲hen taken together, this lineup is a snapshot of contemporary art as seen through the many fields of instruction at the School of Art and Design: photography, metalsmithing, drawing, printmaking, ceramics, sculpture, and so on,鈥 said Brian Young, the gallery director in the School of Art and Design.
糖心Vlog传媒 Little Rock galleries are open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays. The galleries in the Windgate Center of Art + Design have additional hours on Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. All 糖心Vlog传媒 Little Rock galleries are closed on university holidays.
