Overcoming challenges to succeed in the business world will be the theme of 鈥淲omen Empowering Women: Breaking Down Barriers.鈥 The panel discussion and networking event is Thursday, July 13, from 6-7:30 p.m. at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock鈥檚 Multicultural Center.

The session is the latest in the Women Empowering Women series of forums hosted by the Arkansas Business Navigator. The series seeks to encourage and motivate women who are current or aspiring entrepreneurs, especially minority women.

鈥淏reaking Down Barriers鈥 will feature four Central Arkansas professional women who have conquered internal and external challenges to propel their careers forward.

The panelists are Itzel Meador, director of SBA Lending at First Security Bank; Kendra Pruitt, an attorney and Little Rock Mayor Frank Scott鈥檚 chief of staff; Sally Mengel, founder and owner of Loblolly Creamery; and Vanessa Muffoletto, principal broker at Casa Americana Realty.

Arkansas Business Navigator鈥檚 Bri Clark will serve as moderator. Discussion will center on personal and professional self-development, available resources to start and sustain a business, and struggles women face in business and industry.

鈥淲e believe that empowering women in business is not only important but essential for creating a more equitable and diverse economy. What makes WEW so inspiring is that our speakers transparently present themselves as moms, wives, sisters, friends, and individuals 鈥 women just like you and me,鈥 said Clark.

This event is not only an opportunity to gain valuable insights but also a chance to connect with other entrepreneurs in the community and join a supportive network of women.

There is no cost to attend, thanks to First Security Bank. Space is limited, so pre-registration is required. RSVP by emailing Clark at bclark1@ualr.edu or visiting the Eventbrite link, .

The Arkansas Small Business and Technology Development Center is proud to announce a new partnership with Conexion de Negocios Latinos, a Springdale-based non-profit organization that focuses on supporting Latino businesses in Arkansas.

Through this partnership, ASBTDC鈥檚 Arkansas Business Navigator program will work alongside Conexion de Negocios Latinos to provide no-cost specialized services and resources for Arkansas’ Latino entrepreneurs.

“We are thrilled to partner with ASBTDC’s program to support Latino-owned small businesses in Arkansas,” said Irma Chavez, founder and CEO of Conexion de Negocios Latinos. “We know that Latino entrepreneurs face unique challenges and barriers, and this partnership will help us provide the resources and support they need to succeed.”

Latino-owned small businesses are one of the fastest growing segments of the Arkansas economy, but they often face significant challenges, including limited access to capital, language barriers, and cultural differences. The partnership between CNL and ASBTDC’s Arkansas Business Navigator will help to address these challenges and provide a pathway for Latino business owners to achieve success.

鈥淎SBTDC is committed to supporting Latino entrepreneurs across the state of Arkansas, and we are thrilled to be partnering with Conexion de Negocios Latinos,鈥 said Michael Singleton, ASBTDC associate state director. 鈥淭hrough this partnership, we hope to connect more Latino entrepreneurs with the resources and networks they need to start and grow successful businesses in Arkansas.鈥

Conexion de Negocios Latinos is the 鈥 and only one exclusively serving the Latino community 鈥 to join the Arkansas Business Navigator project. The program unites trusted community partners that reach into specific sectors of the state鈥檚 entrepreneurial community. As the 鈥渉ub,鈥 ASBTDC provides centralized support and structure for the partners.

The partnership with CNL is a significant step forward in serving Latino-owned small businesses. Together, the two organizations provide much-needed resources and support to help the state’s Latino entrepreneurs thrive:

  • Access to bilingual business advisors who can provide one-on-one assistance in Spanish and English at no charge.
  • Specialized training and workshops focused on the unique needs and challenges of Latino entrepreneurs.
  • Assistance with accessing financing options and other critical business resources.
  • Access to a network of Latino business owners and entrepreneurs across Arkansas.
