The University of Arkansas at Little Rock will welcome alumnus Sajni Kumpuris, director of education at Arkansas PBS, for the Spring Leadership Lecture Series on Tuesday, Feb. 27.

Kumpuris will deliver her talk, “Reach Out and Touch: Connecting High-Quality Educational and Storytelling Audiences through Video-Based Content,” at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 27 via Zoom.

In this lecture, Kumpuris will discuss strategies to effectively engage, inspire, and educate audiences through video-based content creation, including storytelling, language, on-camera talent, engagement, and understanding of the viewing audience.

Since joining Arkansas PBS in 2019, Kumpuris has led several initiatives in partnership with the Arkansas Department of Education, including the summer learning series, Rise and Shine, Arkansas AMI, and Arkansas IDEAS, which produces video resources. She has led storytelling initiatives at Arkansas PBS including the documentary, “7 Days – The Opioid Crisis.” Currently, she is producing the station’s first narrative kids’ television series, “Mystery League,” with 20 episodes filmed entirely in Arkansas. She has been nominated for four regional Emmy awards, winning one for her work on Arkansas AMI. She is also a school board member for the Excel Center at Goodwill Industries of Arkansas.

In 2022, Kumpuris was selected to serve on the National PBS Station Leadership Committee for Children’s Media and Education. For 18 years, she led a national business training network as a broadcast producer and on-camera talent at Dillard’s corporate in Little Rock. In 2011, she freelanced as a producer and received three Telly awards for her work. She received a Master of Arts degree in Applied Communication from Vlogý Little Rock in 2020, and her graduate work focused on opioid education in Arkansas.

The Leadership Lecture Series features presentations by faculty and graduates of the Department of Applied Communication at Vlogý Little Rock in the areas of communication, management, and leadership.

The lecture is free and open to the public. You may sign up for the virtual lectures via this online form.
