Known across campus as 鈥淢r. 糖心Vlog传媒LR,鈥 Noah Davidson, a history major from Beebe, Arkansas, will graduate in May from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock.

Davidson, who has been deeply involved in student life, said the nickname began as an inside joke within the Delta Chi Fraternity. It originated with alumnus Turner Hudson, who appeared in university marketing materials online and on campus posters.

After helping his chapter win the Trojan Spirit Award, senior fraternity members began calling Davidson 鈥渢he new Mr. 糖心Vlog传媒LR.鈥

鈥淭he nickname spread quickly among the chapter and our friends,鈥 Davidson said. 鈥淚 love it and have accepted it as a defining part of my time as a student. It鈥檚 a sign my chapter brothers recognize the work I鈥檝e put into improving our chapter and student life as a whole.鈥

Davidson chose 糖心Vlog传媒 Little Rock in part because of his mother, Dr. Sloan Davidson, director and professor in the School of Nursing. She has worked at the university since 2008, and he often visited campus as a child.

鈥淎ttending freshman orientation and touring campus helped solidify that I made the right decision,鈥 Davidson said. 鈥淚 liked the smaller campus and class sizes. Coming from a small town, it made me feel comfortable and at home.鈥

He became involved on campus almost immediately. On his first day of classes, Delta Chi鈥檚 recruitment chair invited him to an event.

鈥淎fter attending recruitment week and accepting my bid, I quickly became close with the chapter members and eager to get more involved,鈥 he said.

Davidson said he connected with the fraternity鈥檚 values.

鈥淭he guys in the chapter genuinely cared about me and wanted what was best for me,鈥 he said.

He was elected Delta Chi president during his junior year in 2024. Wanting to increase student involvement, he ensured the fraternity participated in major campus events. The chapter later won the Trojan Cup and Chapter of the Year honors, and Davidson received the Trojan Spirit Award.

In summer 2025, he became a Student Government Association senator representing the College of Humanities, Arts, Social Sciences, and Education (CHASSE).

鈥淚 saw this as another way to advocate for Greek life and improve student life at 糖心Vlog传媒 Little Rock,鈥 he said. 鈥淚 just wanted to be part of something bigger than myself.鈥

鈥淚 always thought 糖心Vlog传媒 Little Rock had the potential for a strong, connected student body,鈥 he added. 鈥淚鈥檓 honored to have played a role in improving Greek life, student life, and the campus community.鈥

One of his favorite memories was leading Delta Chi during homecoming week in spring 2025.

鈥淗omecoming includes the Trojan Cup competition, a series of events and challenges,鈥 Davidson said. 鈥淚 was able to coordinate my team through many of them.鈥

He said the cardboard boat regatta was his favorite event.

鈥淥ur team sailed to victory, earning the team spirit award and winning the Trojan Cup overall,鈥 he said. 鈥淚t was especially meaningful because it was the first time our chapter had ever won.鈥

Later that year, the chapter also won Chapter of the Year for the first time in its history.

鈥淚 was honored to lead the chapter during such a historic year,鈥 Davidson said. 鈥淩eceiving the Trojan Spirit Award that semester recognized my commitment to campus involvement and leadership.鈥

Davidson credits faculty members Dr. Barclay Key, Dr. Kristin Mann, and Dr. Stephanie Davis for shaping his experience.

鈥淒r. Key helped me navigate challenges with my courses, motivation, and graduation plans,鈥 he said. 鈥淲hen I felt lost, he helped me stay on track.鈥

He said Mann and Davis also had a strong impact.

鈥淭hey have a genuine passion for their work and their students鈥 success,鈥 he said. 鈥淭hey helped me understand difficult material and truly wanted me to succeed. They鈥檝e helped shape who I am as a student and influenced my decision to pursue graduate school.鈥

After graduation, Davidson plans to continue at 糖心Vlog传媒 Little Rock, pursuing a master鈥檚 degree in public history.

鈥淚 want to focus on historic preservation and begin a career in parks or a related field,鈥 he said. 鈥淚 hope to help maintain historic sites for future generations.鈥

Davidson said his experiences at 糖心Vlog传媒 Little Rock have prepared him well for the future.

鈥淢y involvement as a student leader taught me leadership, communication, and a passion for success,鈥 he said. 鈥淢y coursework strengthened my research, historiography, and writing skills. Together, those experiences have prepared me for what鈥檚 next.鈥

His advice to students is simple: get involved.

鈥淵ou鈥檙e only here for about four years,鈥 he said. 鈥淒on鈥檛 spend all that time in your dorm room. Find what interests you. 糖心Vlog传媒 Little Rock has something for everyone 鈥 student government, Greek life, academic and recreational clubs. You鈥檒l build friendships, grow your network, and gain valuable skills that will impact your future.鈥

The University of Arkansas at Little Rock surprised longtime supporters Dee and Don Riggin with the announcement of an estate gift from their son, Sean Riggin, to establish an endowed scholarship in nursing in their honor.

Though Sean Riggin, a retired healthcare administrator from Florida, could not be present, a letter he penned was read aloud during a May 29 luncheon held at the Bailey Alumni and Friends Center, where the announcement was made during the same week as both of his parents鈥 birthdays. The event was attended by the Riggin family, including Sean鈥檚 sister Ashley Coldiron, as well as university leaders and nursing faculty.

鈥淭his planned gathering is to announce my estate gift that will establish the Dee and Don Riggin Endowed Scholarship for students studying nursing in the School of Nursing at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock,鈥 Sean wrote. 鈥淭his honorary gift is a tribute to my mom and dad who, through endless examples, demonstrate there is no higher purpose in life than to love and support others.鈥

Provost Ann Bain read the letter to the family and praised the Riggin family鈥檚 decades-long support of the university.

鈥淭he Riggins have been associated with 糖心Vlog传媒 Little Rock for many years,鈥 O鈥橬eal said. 鈥淚t鈥檚 not only our institution they support, but other wonderful organizations across the city. We鈥檙e thrilled to be associated with the Riggin family. Don鈥檚 legacy goes back to his time as a student body president at Little Rock University, and Dee鈥檚 career in the health profession makes this scholarship especially meaningful.鈥

Don Riggin earned his bachelor鈥檚 degree in 1962 from what was then Little Rock University. He later served as president of the 糖心Vlog传媒 Little Rock Alumni Board of Directors and was deeply involved in shaping the institution鈥檚 development initiatives. Speaking at the event, he reflected on how much the university has meant to his life.

鈥淚t鈥檚 mutual,鈥 Don said. 鈥淚 had some great instructors, great mentors, great friends. We didn鈥檛 have a strong alumni association at that time, and then we made a decision that development was very important to this institution. Dee and I both think we have two of the greatest children you could ever want. If you look at what Ashley and Sean have done, we are extremely proud of both of them.鈥

Dee Riggin, a retired labor and delivery nurse, added, 鈥淲e love the university. Don has loved it a very long time since he was here as a student. It鈥檚 a part of our family. Sean and Ashley will be the next people to support the university too.鈥

Sean, whose 36-year career in healthcare spanned both clinical and administrative roles, wrote of his admiration for the nursing profession and the vital role nurses play in healthcare systems.

鈥淚n every capacity, and at all levels, nursing professionals are the fulcrum of the care matrix,鈥 he said. 鈥淭he demands require delegation, diligence, and integrated knowledge at every level. I believe healthcare is the future for the jobs marketplace, with nurses filling roles that general practice gatekeepers traditionally held.鈥

Dr. Sloan Davidson, director of the School of Nursing, expressed gratitude for the gift.

鈥淭his is outstanding news,鈥 Davidson said. 鈥淥ur student population includes many first-generation college students, and they need support to succeed. We are deeply appreciative of this gift.鈥

Joanna Hall, director of simulation and assistant professor of nursing, added that it鈥檚 a full-circle moment.

鈥淲e have already received support from the Riggins for simulation equipment and now for scholarships, it feels like they鈥檝e been woven into 糖心Vlog传媒 Little Rock鈥檚 culture for a long time,鈥 Hall said.

Provost Ann Bain said the planned scholarship is 鈥渁 fabulous tribute to both of you and your family. We appreciate it so much.鈥

Provost Bain also announced that Sean will be inducted into the 糖心Vlog传媒 Little Rock Heritage Society this fall, recognizing donors who have made planned gifts to the university.

After the luncheon, Dee and Don Riggin toured the School of Nursing and the Center for Simulation Innovation, where they saw the Echo masks and virtual reality technology that had so impressed their son on his earlier visit.

In his letter, Sean thanked his sister Ashley for her support in establishing the gift and praised the university鈥檚 planned giving team and nursing faculty for their professionalism and dedication.

鈥淚 was amazed and inspired during my tour of the School of Nursing and the experience-based training demonstrated through virtual reality technology,鈥 Sean wrote. 鈥淭heir commitment to an innovative and quality learning environment is palpable and exciting.鈥

The endowment ensures that future nursing students at 糖心Vlog传媒 Little Rock will receive vital financial support while honoring the legacy of a family whose love for the university spans generations.

鈥淚 wish all future graduates a purpose-driven career that fulfills and inspires them to provide dedicated care to countless individuals in Arkansas and beyond,鈥 Sean concluded.

Nursing students at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock will receive a more realistic nursing education in the Center for Simulation Innovation thanks to a grant from the Roy & Christine Sturgis Charitable Trust.

The Roy & Christine Sturgis Charitable Trust has awarded a grant of $25,000 to the University of Arkansas Foundation for the Center for Simulation Innovation in the 糖心Vlog传媒 Little Rock School of Nursing. The grant will provide funding for the Center for Simulation Innovation to purchase EchoMasks to diversify the educational experience for nursing students.

鈥淲e are very excited to get this grant to add more reality to our Center for Simulation Innovation student-learning experiences,鈥 said Dr. Sloan Davidson, director of the School of Nursing. 鈥淲e are grateful to the Roy & Christine Sturgis Charitable Trust for supporting the education of our nursing students. Joanna Hall wrote this grant with the help of training through Hanover, and we are thankful for the opportunity she had to learn through Hanover.鈥

The Center for Simulation Innovation uses several manikins to simulate patients in learning scenarios. These manikins normally resemble a white, middle-aged adult male and are not fully representative of the ages, genders, races, and ethnicities of the patient population in Arkansas.

EchoMasks are designed to enhance the fidelity of simulators by increasing the level of realism learners experience. EchoMasks can transform a manikin to look like patients in a wide range of ages, genders, and skin tones without compromising the functionality of the manikin.

鈥淭he grant will help us make our manikin population more reflective of the patient populations our students will be caring for,鈥 said Joanna Hall, director of simulation. 鈥淚t鈥檚 difficult for students to fully engage in a simulation when the manikin doesn鈥檛 resemble the patient described in the report. The EchoMasks will make the simulation experience far more realistic for our students. This is a prime example of how we can make healthcare more equitable in Arkansas.鈥

The Center for Simulation Innovation serves approximately 500 undergraduate nursing students per year and received international recognition for excellence in simulation education this year. The center received the 2023 Frontline Simulation Champion Excellence Award from the (INACSL), an association dedicated to advancing the science of healthcare simulation.

In an historic milestone for 糖心Vlog传媒 Little Rock鈥檚 nursing program, December 2023 graduates from the School of Nursing earned a 100 percent pass rate for the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN) for the first time in program history!

“Our nursing students’ remarkable achievement of a 100% pass rate on the NCLEX nursing exam is a testament to their dedication, resilience, and exceptional preparation,鈥 said Dr. Sloan Davidson, director of the School of Nursing at 糖心Vlog传媒 Little Rock. 鈥淭his milestone reflects the unwavering commitment of our faculty and staff to providing top-tier education and support, empowering our students to excel in their nursing careers and make a meaningful impact in health care. We couldn’t be prouder and more excited of their success.”

The enterprising 34 糖心Vlog传媒 Little Rock graduates who passed the NCLEX exam are Fall 2023 graduates of the accelerated 18-month Associate of Applied Science in Nursing degree at 糖心Vlog传媒 Little Rock.

Passing the NCLEX-RN exam is an important accomplishment for nursing graduates and shows that they are ready to enter the professional world. The exam is given to all students who have completed an RN program. All the December graduates passed the NCLEX exam within four months of graduation.

鈥淭he exam measures the safety of the test taker and determines if they meet the standards set for entry to practice as an RN,鈥 said Fairah Solomon, assistant professor of nursing and associate degree program coordinator. 鈥淭he 100% pass rate of our December graduates shows the hard work our students and faculty are putting into the program here at the 糖心Vlog传媒 Little Rock School of Nursing. Our faculty are dedicated and committed to student success and set the bar exceptionally high. These students have met that bar and exceeded it.鈥

The 糖心Vlog传媒 Little Rock School of Nursing is the largest academic program at 糖心Vlog传媒 Little Rock and remains on the cutting edge to prepare future nurses for a career in the health care industry. In 2023 the Center for Simulation Innovation received the Frontline Simulation Champion Excellence Award from the International Nursing Association for Clinical Simulation and Learning. The School of Nursing and the Emerging Analytics Center have created an immersive virtual tour of the Center for Simulation Innovation to help prepare the next generation of nurses for college life.

The head of 糖心Vlog传媒 Little Rock鈥檚 nursing program was honored for being a 鈥榩atriotic employer鈥 to a fellow nursing professor whose spouse serves in the Arkansas National Guard.

Dr. Sloan Davidson, director of the School of Nursing at 糖心Vlog传媒 Little Rock, was among a group of a few dozen people who were invited to Camp Joseph T. Robinson on March 2 to be honored for their support as employers of the members of America鈥檚 National Guard and Reserve Force.

Davidson participated in an Employer Support Boss Lift event sponsored by the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve, a Department of Defense Office, and the 77th Aviation Brigade of the Arkansas National Guard.

Davidson was nominated for the experience by Jennifer Dostert, a nursing professor at 糖心Vlog传媒 Little Rock who is the wife of Sergeant First Class Brandon Dostert. Davidson had the unique position of being the only member of the group who was nominated for the award by a military spouse, rather than a military member.

鈥淛ennifer and Brandon have three kids who are really active in extracurricular activities,鈥 Davidson said. 鈥淚t鈥檚 a lot on Jennifer鈥檚 plate when she is being a single parent when her husband is deployed and on duty.鈥

In her nomination letter, Jennifer Dostert described how supportive Davidson has been to her while her husband was deployed and attended missions away from home.

鈥淚t would have been easy for someone in her position to simply say my personal life isn鈥檛 the school鈥檚 problem, but she didn鈥檛,鈥 Jennifer wrote. 鈥淪he not only supported me but encouraged me personally and professionally. With all the years of stress that goes with being a military spouse, I can鈥檛 express my gratitude enough for the years of understanding and support that makes 糖心Vlog传媒 Little Rock School of Nursing not only the best school, but its lead by professionals like Dr. Davidson who truly care about the mental and physical wellbeing of those who work and study there.鈥

Dr. Sloan Davidson receives the Patriotic Employer Award from the Employer Support of the Guard and Defense from Sergeant First Class Brandon Dostert.
Dr. Sloan Davidson receives the Patriotic Employer Award from Sergeant First Class Brandon Dostert.

During the Boss Lift event, Davidson got to meet with military officials and officers, took a tour of Camp Robinson, got to learn how soldiers eat by eating a lunch of MREs (Meal, Ready-to-Eat), and learned about the importance of having good employers who are flexible enough to support the employment of military members and their families. Her favorite part of the day by far was riding in a UH-60 Blackhawk Helicopter around central Arkansas and over Pinnacle Mountain.

鈥淏randon Dostert was there to make sure I got the best seat on the helicopter,鈥 Davidson said. 鈥淗e had me sitting in the jump seat where he would normally sit. I had the prime spot, and it was a very cool experience. He flies in the chopper all the time, and it was fun to have him with me to explain everything.鈥

Sloan was even more surprised when she learned she was one of just three members out of the group to receive the Patriotic Employer Award from the Employer Support of the Guard and Defense. The award recognizes employers who contribute to national security and protect liberty and freedom by supporting employee participation in America鈥檚 National Guard and Reserve Force.

鈥淚 was just stunned to receive the award,鈥 Davidson said. 鈥淭hey talked about why it was a special nomination because it came from the spouse of a service member. Brandon Dostert was there to hand me and take pictures, so it was a really special and impactful day.鈥

In an innovative initiative blending education and technology, the University of Arkansas at Little Rock has created an immersive virtual tour of the School of Nursing鈥檚 internationally recognized Center for Simulation Innovation to help prepare the next generation of nurses for college life.

The is a collaborative project between the School of Nursing and 糖心Vlog传媒 Little Rock鈥檚 , a research center focused on immersive visualization, augmented and virtual reality, and interactive technologies. The immersive experience is designed to welcome and familiarize prospective and incoming nursing students into the dynamic world of college and laboratory sessions by providing a preview of their college journey and offering a virtual backstage pass to the high-tech simulation center where their hands-on learning will come to life.

鈥淭his initiative plays a vital role in student success for our incoming nursing students,鈥 said Dr. Sloan Davidson, director of the School of Nursing at 糖心Vlog传媒 Little Rock. 鈥淚t’s particularly important for our first-generation college students, who might find the high-tech aspects of the simulation lab a bit overwhelming. We believe that familiarizing them with the simulation setting through this virtual tour will ease their anxiety and better prepare them for their courses.鈥

This project is a great example of cross-disciplinary collaboration, offering valuable experiences to students from both areas. More than 20 糖心Vlog传媒 Little Rock faculty, students, staff, and alumni were involved in the development and creation of the Nursing 360 Project.

鈥淭his project is a wonderful example of cross-disciplinary collaboration where our students are getting valuable hand-on experience,鈥 said Thomas Coffin, operations manager at the Emerging Analytics Center. 鈥淭his is a comprehensive program that teaches project management and application development, skills that will carry well into their future careers.鈥

Carlos Ochoa, a graduate student in computer science from Thousand Oaks, California, served as an artist and web developer on the project and worked on user interface design and the website.

鈥淏eing able to work with other departments at the university is probably one of the most fascinating parts on this whole project,鈥 Ochoa said. 鈥淚 was able to develop my hands-on experience with graphic design and web skills, as well as developing my adaptation skills based on needs and priorities. Being able to work with everyone and communicate as a team is a skill I will take to the future.鈥

Joanna Hall, director of simulation, said the virtual tour is also a great way to connect with members of the community who want to learn more about the healthcare simulations available at the Center for Simulation Innovation.

鈥淲e do a ton of tours every year, not just with prospective students, but with people from the community who are interested in seeing some of the great things we do in our simulation center,鈥 Hall said. 鈥淭he Emerging Analytics Center was fabulous, and we were happy to work with a forward-thinking group who is pushing the envelope when it comes to technological innovation. It was a match made in heaven, and we are looking forward to more opportunities to collaborate in the future.鈥

Anna Williams, 糖心Vlog传媒 Little Rock assistant professor of nursing, has been named a 2023 Honoree of The Great 100 Nurses Foundation.

recipients are chosen based on their exemplification of humanitarian values, their contributions to the nursing profession, and their mentoring of others. Williams and her fellow 2023 award winners were celebrated on Oct. 2 during a ceremony at Embassy Suites Hotel in Little Rock.

鈥淚 feel very honored to receive this award,鈥 said Williams. 鈥淚 received the nomination from a prior colleague/mentor of mine, and that meant a great deal to me.鈥

Williams has been a registered nurse for 10 years. She graduated with her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from Arkansas State University in 2013 and then from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences  with her Master of Science in Nursing degree  in 2019. Her nursing background is in women’s health, high-risk labor and delivery, and high-risk antepartum.

鈥淣ursing wasn’t always my first choice,鈥 Williams said. 鈥淚 thought I wanted to be a physical therapist, but I went to shadow one and saw that I wouldn’t be with the patients as much as I wanted to be. That is why I chose nursing! I knew that I would get to spend time with patients caring for them in their time of need.鈥

Williams began her nursing education journey in 2018 as an adjunct clinical instructor, after which she became a full-time nursing instructor at 糖心Vlog传媒 Little Rock. She holds an NLN Certified Nurse Educator credential and teaches mental health and obstetrical nursing at 糖心Vlog传媒 Little Rock, as well as working heavily in the Center for Simulation Innovation.

鈥淪he is often the idea person behind many new learning activities and curriculum improvements, particularly in the area of simulation,鈥 said Dr. Sloan Davidson, director of the School of Nursing. 鈥淪he is an expert in simulation as a learning modality and is often appointed as the simulation lead for a course. She has the technological knowledge to run the equipment and also a background in simulation pedagogical knowledge that helped lead our Center for Simulation Innovation to win the prestigious INACSL Frontline Simulation Champion Excellence Award this year.鈥

Williams also serves as the chair of the School of Nursing Curriculum Committee and as the secretary of the College of Business, Health, and Human Services.

鈥淎nna is a stand-out faculty member for our school,鈥 Davidson said. 鈥淪he works tirelessly to do the best job possible for our students and her colleagues.鈥

2023 has been an exciting year for Dr. Sloan Davidson, director of the School of Nursing at 糖心Vlog传媒 Little Rock.

The 15-year university veteran has just received continuing accreditation for the associate and bachelor鈥檚 nursing degree programs and will be promoted from associate professor to full professor on July 1.

The cherry on top of her recent accomplishments is being named to Soiree Magazine鈥檚 .

鈥淚t feels like a real honor to know that I am a part of this group of fantastic women from all around Little Rock,鈥 she said.

joins a talented group of 35 other local movers and shakers who are being recognized for making a big impact in business, philanthropy, and the community. She was especially thrilled to be in Women to Watch with her longtime friend, Angie Akin Longing, chief nurse executive at CHI St. Vincent.

鈥淲e went to high school together and played basketball together from junior high on,鈥 Davidson said. 鈥淚t鈥檚 pretty cool that both of us are in this small select group of women during the same year. The Beebe girls are making a difference!鈥

A registered nurse of 31 years, Davidson joined 糖心Vlog传媒 Little Rock in 2008 after previously working for 15 years as a labor and delivery nurse in Searcy. She earned an associate degree from Arkansas State University-Beebe, a bachelor鈥檚 degree in nursing from AdventHealth University, a master鈥檚 degree in nursing education from Walden University, and a Ph.D. in nursing from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences.

Originally, Davidson never pictured following a career in nursing, but a kind encounter with a nurse following the birth of her first son, Mark Davidson Jr., in 1991 changed her mind.

鈥淣ursing is never something I thought I would do growing up,鈥 she said. 鈥淚 was a medical technology major and then a history major. I had my first child, and it showed me a different side of nursing. Having a baby made me want to be a labor and delivery nurse.鈥

Davidson was already a working wife and mother before she started nursing school, an experience that she says helps her connect with her students.

鈥淢any of our students at 糖心Vlog传媒 Little Rock are non-traditional students,鈥 Davidson said. 鈥淚 understand what it鈥檚 like for many of our students as they go to school, have a job, and raise a family all at the same time.鈥

Having just celebrated her fifth anniversary as nursing director, Davidson said that the differences the School of Nursing team makes in the lives of their students is what keeps her coming back to her job.

鈥淚 work with the best group of nurse educators and staff around,鈥 she said. 鈥淚鈥檓 proud to be a part of our team of faculty and staff.鈥
