Invictus: Photographs by Angela Strassheim

Angela Strassheim is a photographer living and working in Connecticut. Prior to receiving her MFA from Yale in 2003, Strassheim worked as a certified forensic photographer. In this capacity she produced crime scene, evidence, and surveillance photography in Miami, FL. Later, having moved to New York, she began to photograph autopsies as well. Since 2002, Angela Strassheim鈥檚 photographs have probed female identity, family, religion, and memory with unflinching grit. Her inclusion in the 2006 Whitney Biennial: Day For Night was a break-out moment that launched her career and a media buzz about her work. Her photographic prints have been featured in half a dozen other museum shows, including her 2012 solo show, 鈥淓vidence,鈥 at the Minneapolis Institute of Arts.
