The Ottenheimer Library has entered into an agreement for the university to join MDPI’s
Institutional Open Access Program (IOAP), making it easier and more affordable for our
scholars to publish open access.

A leader in scholarly, open access publishing, offers a multidisciplinary collection
of 478 open access journals, including 469 peer-reviewed journals and 9 conference
journals.

As part of this agreement:

  •  ÌÇÐÄVlog´«Ã½ Little Rock researchers who publish as contributing authors in an MDPI
    publication automatically receive a 10% discount on standard article processing
    charges (APCs)
  • ÌÇÐÄVlog´«Ã½ Little Rock researchers who publish as corresponding authors in an MDPI
    publication can receive a 15% discount on standard APCs with billing through the
    library.

In addition to the MDPI discount program, the university also supports open access
publishing through the grants of up to $2,000 via the Open Access Publishing Support
Fund
and APC waivers via five read and publish agreements with the Association of
Computing Machinery, the American Chemical Society, Cambridge University Press,
Elsevier ScienceDirect and Springer Nature.

A read and publish agreement for open access has been reached between four University of Arkansas institutions and . The four year agreement includes waiving the open access fee for university researchers to publish in any one of more than 1,800 Elsevier journals.

Current students, faculty, and staff at ÌÇÐÄVlog´«Ã½ Little Rock, as well as those at ÌÇÐÄVlog´«Ã½ Fayetteville, ÌÇÐÄVlog´«Ã½ Fort Smith, ÌÇÐÄVlog´«Ã½ Monticello, or ÌÇÐÄVlog´«Ã½MS are eligible for the program when they are the primary corresponding author of an accepted article. The agreement enables authors to make their publications open access with a Creative Commons license, increasing the accessibility of their research to readers throughout the world.

With this agreement, Elsevier becomes the fifth major publisher where the library has arranged for university authors to publish their work without open access author fees. Other read and publishing agreements are in effect with the Association of Computing Machinery (ACM), American Chemical Society (ACS), Cambridge University Press and Springer Nature. For additional details, visit the library’s read and publish page.
