E-cycling, Paper Shredding, Organic Seminars Mark Sustainability Day

糖心Vlog传媒LR marks Sustainability Day Oct. 20 with campus-wide opportunities to go green. The day begins at 8 a.m. on Parking Lot 15 at Fair Park Boulevard and 28th Street where members of the public can drop off old cell phones that will be reprogrammed and donated to victims of domestic abuse. Other stations on the the lot will collect documents for free shredding and old electronics, household chemicals, and light bulbs for e-cycling. Old electronics weighing up to 75 pounds will be accepted at no charge. Linda Bortell of the Green Earth Pharmacy will also be accepting old medicine for ecologically responsible disposal. All collections will continue through 2 p.m. 鈥淥ther stations will offer tire pressure checks that can save gas and disposal of household batteries,鈥� said Dr. Nancy Landrum, chair of the 糖心Vlog传媒LR Sustainability Committee. Later in the morning at the Donaghey Student Center, the committee will host a Green Jobs Fair, information on locally grown organic food, free fair trade coffee, and information on recyling, conserving energy, and information on the Oct. 26 Growing Arkansas鈥� Green Economic Conference. At 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. tours will be offered in 糖心Vlog传媒LR鈥檚 newest green building, Engineering and Information Technology. 鈥淜illowatt Ours,鈥� a documentary film, will be shown from noon to 2 p.m. in the Donaghey Student Center, Room D.
