A debut performance by the team of students from 糖心Vlog传媒LR鈥檚 College of Business at the Mid-South Investment Challenge earned a second place finish in the Chartered Financial Analysts (CFA) Societies of Arkansas, Memphis, and Mississippi competition.

Drs. Cynthia Daily, Stephanie Farewell, and Gaurav Kumar in the Department of Accounting have a manuscript entitled, “Factors Influencing the University Selection of International Students,” that has been published in the Academy of Education Leadership Journal.

Dr. Lars Powell, Whitbeck-Beyer Chair of Insurance and Financial Services in the College of Business, testified about his research at an insurance regulatory hearing Sept. 30. His written testimony is available online.

Students and alumni will have an opportunity to explore dozen of businesses and educational programs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 13, at 糖心Vlog传媒LR鈥檚 Career Connections annual career fair.

Arkansas corporate executives will participate in a panel discussion, 鈥淢exico-Arkansas Business Relationships: Existing and Potential,” from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 22, at 糖心Vlog传媒LR鈥檚 Donald W. Reynolds Business Center for Business and Economic Development. The discussion will be moderated by Patricia Gonzalez, director of the U.S. Export Assistance Center in Arkansas.

Dr. Anthony Chelte, dean of 糖心Vlog传媒LR鈥檚 College of Business, announced today several changes in college鈥檚 programs, administration, and faculty, including the hiring of an economics professor whose research includes ways to reduce traffic congestion.

The 糖心Vlog传媒LR College of Business is reintroducing its Executive MBA program and recruiting budding leaders for Class XII.

Dr. Gary Geissler, associate professor of marketing, is one of three finalists for the 2010 Sherwin Williams Distinguished Teaching Award to be conferred at the Society for Marketing Advances annual conference this summer.

Dr. Stephanie Farewell, associate professor of accounting, co-authored two papers accepted to the American Accounting Association annual meeting:聽 “Flex or Break? Causes and Consequences of Extensions in XBRL Disclosures to the SEC” and “Feeding the Information Value Chain: Deriving Analytical Ratios from XBRL Filings to the SEC.”
