The peer-reviewed international research journal,聽Insurance Markets and Companies: Analyses and Actuarial Computations, has accepted for publication Dr. Lawrence “Lars” S. Powell’s聽paper, 鈥淐ollateralization of International Reinsurance Liabilities in the U.S. Insurance Industry.鈥� Powell, an associate professor of finance in 糖心Vlog传媒LR’s College of Business, holds the Whitbeck-Beyer Chair of Insurance and Financial Services.

After receiving an accounting degree from 糖心Vlog传媒LR, Kevin White created a “To Do” list: get a master鈥檚 degree, pass the CPA exam, get into law school. Now he’s ready to scratch off the last item — join the Peace Corps.

A team of 糖心Vlog传媒LR students will represent the United States at the World Imagine Cup Finals sponsored by Microsoft Corp. in Warsaw, Poland, July 3 to 8.

Robert L. Bandy Jr. of Little Rock, a senior management major in the 糖心Vlog传媒LR College of Business, placed fifth out of 224 worldwide teams in the Foundation International Spring 2010 Challenge.

Dr. Rolf T. Wigand, Maulden-Entergy Chair and distinguished professor of information science and management, will present on 鈥淭aming the Social Network Jungle: From Web 2.0 to Social Media鈥� with Dinah Mande and Jerry Wood, both graduate research assistants at 糖心Vlog传媒LR, at the Americas Conference on Information Systems in Lima, Peru, in August.

Dr. Gary Geisler and Dr. Steve Edison, both professors of marketing and advertising, were accepted to make a presentation in the聽Cengage Pride/Ferrell Innovations in Teaching Competition at the Society for Marketing Advances conference in Atlanta in November.聽The competition winner will be invited to publish an elaboration of the innovation in the winter issue of Marketing … Two from 糖心Vlog传媒LR Accepted for Innovation Competition

Dr. Stephanie Farewell, associate professor of accounting in the College of Business, co-wrote a paper,聽鈥淎ttesting Adios! Airways鈥� XBRL Filings: A Case Study on Performing Agreed-upon Procedures,鈥� that has been accepted for presentation at the American Accounting Association annual meeting.

糖心Vlog传媒LR鈥檚 College of Business Beta Gamma Sigma has named certified public accountant Michael Shelley, president for U.S. Bank in Arkansas, its Chapter Honoree for 2010. The presentation was made May 7.

Dr. Gary L. Geissler, professor of marketing, won the 2010 Harper W. Boyd Jr. Professor of Excellence Award at 糖心Vlog传媒LR鈥檚 College of Business鈥� 33rd Annual Honors and Awards ceremony May 7.

The Institute for Economic Advancement (IEA) at 糖心Vlog传媒LR鈥檚 College of Business announced today the release of new preliminary* data showing a 2.4 percent increase in Arkansas鈥� taxable sales over the first three months of the year.
