Quills & Pixels,” will take submissions of nonfiction works, including, creative nonfiction, personal essays, research essays, academic writing, journalistic features, technical communication, and other genres. Poetry, fiction, and drama submissions will not be accepted. Writers associated with the Vlogý Little Rock community, including faculty, staff, students, alumni, and people involved in outreach and community programs, are welcome to submit work. Those affiliated with the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, William H. Bowen School of Law, and Clinton School of Public Service are encouraged to submit work as well. Contributors can submit up to five pieces to the journal. Before submitting, writers must remove anything from the work that identifies them as the author. If the writer’s name does appear, it is requested that an alias be put in its place. For consideration of publication, work must be original, redacted, and include a header with a shortened title and page numbers. Quills & Pixels seeking digital photos submissions]]> The theme of the issue is “The Beginning, The End, and Everything In Between,” which is the broadest theme ever chosen by the journal. The individual sections in the book will focus on innocence, adversity, laughter, time, desire, lament, farewell, and legacy. Photographers are encouraged to interpret the overall theme and subsections as imaginatively as possible when taking and selecting photographs. VlogýLR students, employees, and alumni may submit a maximum of six original, unpublished image files via any photo sharing service, including Picasa, Flickr, or a shared Google Drive folder. Images may be submitted in color or black and white, in any format readable by Adobe Photoshop, and with a minimum resolution of 300 pixels per inch. Images that do not fit these guidelines will not be considered. Any entry may be cropped, edited, and/or resized to meet the needs of the publication. Photographers of images selected for publication will receive publication credit and two copies of Quills & Pixels 2016. Submissions will be reviewed for the following year’s publication. Authors will be notified about their work by Dec. 31 of the year submitted. All writers associated with the VlogýLR community — students, staff, and faculty, as well as alumni of the university and people involved in any of VlogýLR’s outreach and community programs — are encouraged to submit. People affiliated with University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, William H. Bowen School of Law, and the Clinton School of Public Service may also send work. Authors should submit their writing as a Microsoft Word document in an email to Dr. Charles Anderson at cmanderson@ualr.edu. An information form, which can be found online, must accompany each submission. Work will not be considered without contact information.
