Making Time Work for Me,鈥 from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 23, and Wednesday, Jan. 24. This segment will teach students about effective time and life management strategies, as well as how to use their smartphones to prioritize their schedules. The final workshop scheduled for January, 鈥淎m I Technologically Lit? Learning Life Study Google Apps,鈥 will be led by Alveno Smith, customer service consultant in the Information Technology Services Department. During his sessions at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 30, and Wednesday, Jan. 31, Smith will present students with Google and mobile applications useful for enhancing their academic journey. Dr. Sarah Beth Estes, executive director of the Community Connections Center, will teach students how to effectively prepare for a career and land jobs after college during 鈥淎m I Career Ready? Resume and Cover Letter Writing, Interviewing, and Negotiating Career Salaries.鈥 This workshop will take place from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 6, and Wednesday, Feb. 7. Tag teaming 鈥淗ow Can I Get More Money For College? Financing Your College Education,鈥 will be Carlia Smith, director of Financial Aid, and Allison Holland, director of the University Writing Center. Together, these 聽directors will identify the scholarships and grants available to students, followed up with how to write a scholarship essay to attain such awards. These sessions will begin at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 20, and Wednesday, Feb. 21. Avestine Ward, real estate broker and certified credit counselor, will present students with 鈥淗ow Do I Keep My Money? Managing Your Budget, Credit, and Purchases.鈥 She will use her expertise to teach students personal banking strategies, how to establish credit, and offer tips on making the best decisions for personal purchases. Her segment will run from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 27, and Wednesday, Feb. 28. Each workshop will take place in Donaghey Student Center Room 205 G.   This initiative is sponsored by the Office of Undergraduate Academic Advising, the federally funded TRiO programs Student Support Services and Ronald E. Career Exploration and Goals鈥 Workshop at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 12, and Wednesday, Sept. 13, in Donaghey Student Center Room 205D. Academic Advisor Yvette Palmer and Counselor Aresh Assadi will lead the workshop. The next workshop, 鈥淲ho am I, Really? Study Strategies for College Success鈥 will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 19, and Wednesday, Sept. 20, in Donaghey Student Center Room 205D. Brandon Scott, academic mentor and administrative specialist, will lead a workshop where participants take personality, learning style, and brain dominance assessments to discover more information about themselves. The results can be used to improve studying, reading, note taking, and test preparation skills. This session will take place from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 14, and Friday, Feb. 17, in Donaghey Student Center Room 205 D . 鈥淲e want to teach students early on how to properly execute a complaint or voice their concerns in the workplace in the right manner,鈥 Dobbins said. Cassandra Woods, human resource training and development manager and Title IX deputy director, will lead the workshop. Daniel Spillers, lead web developer for Information Technology Services, and Meaghan Milliorn, online marketing manager, will tackle 鈥淗ow Do I Establish a Professional Digital Footprint鈥 from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 21, and Friday, Feb. 24. During the workshop, Spillers and Milliorn will help students navigate through new Google applications, while making them aware of email and social media boundaries.
